Celtics Top NBA Picks Today, Face Rival Knicks at Home

The Boston Celtics put their 9-0 home record on the line against the New York Knicks on Friday.

NBA odds have the Celtics as significant favorites to get back to winning form following a loss in the In-Season Tournament semifinal.

The Eastern Conference battle should see plenty of points, despite the total line being low.

Knicks Have Underdog Upside

The Knicks are usually good bets when playing as the sport betting underdog.

They are the significant outsider to beat the Celtics, but considering they’re 10-8-2 against the spread, it’s not a bad line.

We have no idea what happened to their defense when they allowed the Milwaukee Bucks to score 146 points in the tournament quarterfinals. It was a shocking display on defense, and they didn’t look interested.

Jalen Brunson wasn’t happy with the defense played in the loss.

“Defensively, we didn’t really do anything all game. That’s the story. That’s it,” Brunson told the media. “They hit a lot of shots. They got comfortable. It’s on us to make them uncomfortable.”

Our concern with the Knicks is their lack of winning attitude at times. They’re too inconsistent, but that doesn’t make them a bad bet, especially as the underdog.

However, they are 0-2 against the Celtics, including a 114-98 loss last month.

Celtics Loving Home Life

It’s not often teams go 9-0 at home to start the year, and it’s interesting to see how long the streak will last.

Teams that play well at home usually go deep in the playoffs, and our NBA expert picks expect Boston to reach the Eastern Conference Finals.

The sportsbook is right to have the Celtics as the favorites, especially after beating Philadelphia 125-119 at home last week. That was an impressive effort before losing on the road to the Pacers.

However, despite being one of the best teams in the NBA, they haven’t been the best bet. They are 8-10-2 ATS, but that figure improves to 6-3 ATS at home.

Covering a spread that large isn’t easy, but with the likes of Jayson Tatum averaging 27.6 PPG, they’re tough to beat.

We also love what Derrick White has been doing. He has been making timely shots, and he leads the team with 5.3 assists per game.

Having already beaten the Knicks twice helps their confidence levels, so momentum is with the home side.

Knicks vs Celtics Betting Lines

Knicks vs Celtics Game Prediction

Predicted Score: Boston Celtics 116, New York Knicks 107

Worth Betting the Moneyline?

The betting online odds are too short for the Celtics, so we’re looking for better value in spread and totals markets.

Worth Betting ATS?

Backing the Celtics at home has been a profitable wager, so we’re not jumping off their backs now.

The Knicks have been too inconsistent for our liking, and although they have some quality players, we are worried about their recent defense.

Boston can put up big numbers, and we’re locking in the -6½ line before it moves.

NBA Pick: Boston Celtics -6½

Worth Betting on the Totals?

Over 220½ is our best bet for the Knicks vs Celtics. Games rarely go under that total, let alone involving a team that allowed 146 points last time on the court.

The Celtics have been scoring well enough, and they haven’t been at their best. We expect their best to return on Friday, so the over should cash for bettors.

NBA Pick: Over 220½
