The Timberwolves’ 1-2 record leans my NBA betting predictions on the Clippers advancing through a Wild Card spot from the group.
Furthermore, the Clippers have been one of the season’s biggest surprises, which could make things interesting as the underdog at BetUS Sportsbook. They beat the Washington Wizards in their last game, 121-96, making them 6-1 over their last seven games.

It looked like the Clippers were going to regress this season. One of my preseason bets was that the Clippers were going to hit the under on their win total. They had allowed Paul George to walk in free agency, and the confusing injury issues around Kawhi Leonard continue to plague the franchise.
However, the Clippers have been playing well, with 12 wins through their first 20 games. They are the only team in the West Group A that has a chance to make a Wild Card spot. Their record is 1-1, with a point differential of -5, and a big win over the Timberwolves could put them in a good position.

Despite George leaving in free agency, the Clippers were able to re-sign James Harden, who headlined NBA news in the win over the Wizards. Harden averages 21.6 points per game and went off for 43 in 32 minutes as the Clippers blew out the Wizards. The Clippers’ offense has not been incredible, averaging 109.3 points per game, which ranks 24th. But if Harden is going to get hot, especially with the team’s leading scorer, Norman Powell, hurt, that can shift betting lines.
Even though Harden and the Clippers’ offense looked good in the last game, their defense is what people should be paying attention to. They have the second-best defensive rating over the previous seven games, at 101.7. During those seven games, the Clippers have held opposing teams under 100 points five times, which is the biggest reason to back them in NBA picks.

Last season, the Timberwolves made it to the Western Conference Finals before being swept. However, they broke up their core because of cap flexibility, trading away Karl-Anthony Towns and receiving Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo. After the loss to the Kings, Anthony Edwards, the team’s leader despite his age, talked about how the Timberwolves were “soft.” Edwards is averaging 27.1 points over the last nine games, which leads the team, but he is also shooting 42.9% from the field, which is not helping. Randle averages 21.9 points per game during this stretch, but no one else is above 14.
