Warriors, Mavericks Square Off In Clash Of Western Conference Contenders
The Dallas Mavericks look to bounce back from a loss when they visit the Golden State Warriors in a game between a pair of Western Conference contenders on Sunday night. Dallas began the second half of its season with a road loss to the Utah Jazz on Friday night, while Golden State came out on fire, putting up 132 points in a rout of Portland on Thursday. Offensive fireworks could be on tap in this one, so let’s take a closer look at how to bet online on this contest.
Mavs Still Learning After Trade
The Dallas Mavericks shook things up with a trade of center Kristaps Porzingis – the team’s second-leading scorer and rebounder – at the trade deadline, getting back guard Spencer Dinwiddie and forward Davis Bertans. While the team’s depth is helped a bit with the deal, Dallas is still working out the new rotation with the new players.

One constant for the Mavericks is the production of guard Luka Doncic, who leads the team in scoring (27.4 points), rebounding (9.1) and assists (9.0) and ranking in the top 20 in the league in all three categories. Doncic will have to take on a little more scoring, but he will also have another ball-handler in Dinwiddie to help him play off the ball a little more.
Guard Jalen Brunson will also see his role change a bit with the trade, though he’s been a key for Dallas this season. Brunson is averaging 16.1 points and 5.4 assists per game, both career-best averages for the fourth-year pro.
Both Bertans and Dinwiddie are scoring 10.7 points per game in three games off the bench since the trade, with Dinwiddie contributing 2.7 assists per game as well. Both will be revitalized to go to a title-contending team like the Mavericks and should get better as they get used to their new roles.
Warriors Look For A Repeat Performance
In the Golden State Warriors’ first game since his All-Star Game MVP performance, Stephen Curry didn’t continue to shoot from everywhere on the floor. Instead, he was more of a facilitator, finishing with 14 assists as the Warriors had eight players in double figures in a 37-point rout of the Trail Blazers on Thursday night.
“It was a good way to kind of come back from the break and establish ourselves on both ends of the floor,” Curry said after the easy victory that saw the team’s starters sit for the entire fourth quarter.
Curry will certainly be looking to shoot more against the Mavericks, as he’s averaging 25.7 points per game to rank 11th in the league. He’s also averaging 6.5 assists per game, becoming more of a playmaker with forward Draymond Green sidelined for nearly two months with a back issue.
Curry’s running mate, Klay Thompson, is considered questionable for this contest with an illness. Thompson is averaging 17.1 points per game in his comeback season after missing the last two campaigns with injuries.
The Warriors’ other All-Star, forward Andrew Wiggins, had just 10 points in the win over Portland. Wiggins is averaging 17.6 points per game but has scored under his average in the last three contests, meaning he could be due for a breakout performance in this one.

Dallas Mavericks at Golden State Warriors Prediction
While the Dallas Mavericks are getting used to playing together, the Golden State Warriors have been playing well as a unit all season long. This could be a potential first-round matchup in the playoffs, so Golden State doesn’t want Dallas getting any confidence that it can win on the road against the Warriors. Look for Curry to have a big game as the Warriors roll in this one.
