NBA Odds:

Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks don’t seem to be on the same page right now. After last season, many people felt this was a team on the rise who might compete for a championship. Sitting at 8-13 and riding a six-game losing streak, many are wondering what’s wrong.

This team has badly missed a few pieces that left the team during the offseason, most notably Seth Curry. Luka Doncic is doing everything in his power to pick up the weight, averaging 27.4 points, 9.2 rebounds and 9.4 assists per game. The question is who else is going to step up and help him?

This is a team that averaged 117 points per game last season but is only at about 108 this year. That number is down to 104.5 over their last four contests. Players like Kristaps Porzingis, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Josh Richardson have to step up because Doncic is doing it all. He’s just not getting enough support.

Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks have been one of the pleasant surprises during this young NBA season, sitting at 10-10 on the year despite facing a few unfortunate injuries to their roster. They lost Bogdan Bogdanovic and De’Andre Hunter earlier in the season with each player expected to miss even more time than they already have. But the Hawks have been kept afloat due to Young’s stellar play on the court. He is averaging 27.0 points and 8.6 assists per contest while also taking the brunt of the defensive pressure. It has allowed for other young players on this roster to find themselves a rhythm.

On the defensive end, they have benefited from their veteran center Clint Capela, who is averaging 14.5 rebounds per game and is leading the NBA in blocks per contest. His presence on the glass and in the paint has proved to be exactly what the Hawks needed, as most of their guards are below average defenders and need the help inside. They will need solid performances from their star players to pick up a win here.
