Life without Joel Embiid has been difficult for the 76ers, who are expected to miss the center for another game. Embiid, along with Matisse Thybulle, have been sorely missed in the five-game losing streak.
NBA betting odds have the Nuggets as dominant home favorites as they look to improve to 8-1 at Ball Arena.
Philadelphia at Sixes and Sevens
There is a lot going on in Philadelphia and none of it is good. Not only have they yet to part ways with Ben Simmons, but having Embiid out of action has made matters worse.
The 76ers are riding a five-game losing streak, including a dreadful 120-85 loss to Utah. Being on the road adds to the pain, and although most of the disappointment has come because Embiid is out, there is a growing frustration with this franchise.
“The Process” has failed miserably and we don’t think Embiid can save it. Once he returns, the 76ers still have a chance to win games consistently but the team is on edge.
It hasn’t been an easy stretch with games against the New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers and Utah Jazz, but bettors are having a hard time trusting this team.

They had covered four consecutive spreads before Embiid went down with COVID-19, but even with getting 12 points to the Jazz, they were beaten by 35 points.
We’re not shocked to see the sportsbook post the 76ers as +7½ underdogs against Denver, which could be a lower line than expected. However, the 76ers have played well in Denver over the last 12 games.
They are 10-2 ATS at Ball Arena, so that gives bettors some confidence with a team heading in the wrong direction.
Tough to Beat Denver at Home
The Denver Nuggets have consistently been a tough team to beat at home and they’re showing no signs of slowing down.
They are 7-1 at home and despite losing their most recent game on the road to the Dallas Mavericks, bettors should have confidence with this unit.
The Nuggets put the hurt on the Portland Trail Blazers last week when winning 124-95, which was an offensive explosion from a team averaging only 103.6 points per game.
They have struggled offensively and currently rank 24th in the NBA for points scored. However, that’s due to the style they play, and they rank fourth in field goal percentage so they make their shots count.
Aaron Gordon and Nikola Jokic are top 5 in defensive rating currently. One of them should be up here. https://t.co/VJuvXj2g0H

Nikola Jokic had 28 points in the victory over Portland and coach Michael Malone expects to see him continue to guide the offense.
“Nikola knows the deeper we get into games the more he’s going to have to take over with his scoring and be that go-to player for us,” Malone told ESPN. “He’s going to read the game and whatever’s given to him, he’s going to take and he’s going to try to make him pay for whatever game plan you’ve come up with.”
Denver can also call on its top-rated defense, which is allowing 98.9 points per game. That’s an incredible number in modern-day NBA, so we’re unsure if the Philadelphia offense, without Embiid, can produce enough points to stay in the mix.
76ers vs Nuggets Pick
We couldn’t put our hard-earned money on the 76ers until Embiid comes back, and even then we would be skeptical.
Bettors should have supreme confidence in betting the Nuggets at home. The betting online number of -7½ could move on game night, so it could pay to lock in the value.
We project the Nuggets to score by double digits and they should do it handsomely. The 76ers would need to shoot lights out from the field to have a chance, but we can’t see Seth Curry getting off too many quality shots against the lock down defense.
Pick: Denver Nuggets -7½
