Detroit Pistons at Golden State Warriors
Pistons Down in Dumps
The Detroit Pistons are ranked 14th in the Eastern Conference with a woeful 10-32 record that includes a 7-14 record at home and a 3-18 record on the road. In the last 10 games, the Pistons are a surprisingly modest 5-5. Three of their last five wins came at home and included an upset over the Utah Jazz that sent seismic shockwaves through betting online markets.
The Pistons closed as the 10½-point home underdogs only to deliver the 126-116 win over the Jazz. They followed their big win with a 133-87 loss to the Chicago Bulls before beating the Toronto Raptors 103-87. Most recently, the Pistons lost to the Phoenix Suns by a whopping 135-108 score on Sunday.
The Pistons closed as the 11½ -point road underdogs but they failed to whiff at the point spread in the lopsided defeat. Cory Joseph and Cade Cunningham led the team with 21 points each, while Trey Lyles added 18 points, six rebounds and two assists.
The Pistons are 22-20-0 against the spread (ATS) with a 9.9 losing margin on average. On the road, the Pistons are 9-12-0 ATS with a 14.8 losing margin on average.
Warriors in Slump
The Golden State Warriors are in the midst of a slump, riding a 4-6 record in their last 10 games which includes a four-game road stretch that served up just one win – a 138-96 win over the Bulls. Overall, the Warriors are among the top teams in the Western Conference with a solid 31-12 record, which puts them three games back of the conference-leading Phoenix Suns.
Home form is Golden State’s bread and butter. The Warriors have lost only lost three of their 21 contests at the Chase Center. In their last seven home contests, they’ve gone 6-1. The only hiccup during that stretch was an 89-86 loss to the Denver Nuggets.
The Warriors are 24-17-2 ATS with a 7,9 winning margin on average. At home, they are 14-6-1 ATS at home with a 14.2 winning margin on average.
Warriors the Smart Bet
The Golden State Warriors might have wobbled lately, but they’re back at home where they’re nigh unbeatable this season. It would take something extraordinary or out of this world for the Detroit Pistons to serve up an upset.
Predictably, the Warriors are the massive home favorites in NBA betting markets with the point spread opening on 15 points. For any other team, that’s a lot of points to cover. However, for the Warriors, it’s right in their wheelhouse.
Not to mention, this is a mismatch on several scores. Detroit’s offense ranks 29th in the league with an average of 101.4 points scored and the defense ranks 24th with an average of 111.3 points allowed. By contrast, the Warriors are the top defense in the league with 102.0 points allowed and the offense ranks 12th overall with 109.9 points scored per game.
Good news for the Warriors: Curry is expected to return to the lineup. So, all things considered, and assuming Curry will indeed play, the Warriors to cover as the home chalk is the choice bet for NBA free picks.
