Friday, 3/1 NBA Picks and Parlays: Bet Hield, Pelicans

We’re heading into March with momentum after cashing in back-to-back NBA parlays on Wednesday and Thursday. We hit the Magic to win, the Warriors against the spread (ATS), and Victor Wembanyama to finish with a double-double on Thursday. When betting online, it’s becoming much easier to read between the contenders and pretenders entering the season’s final month and a half.

Friday, 3/1 NBA Picks and Parlays: Bet Hield, Pelicans

One of the best ways to spice things up when wagering on the NBA is with an NBA parlay bet for all of the action. We have nine games scheduled to tip off Friday night, and I’m going to use a combination of NBA ATS picks and NBA player props to build our parlay bet.

With so many games to break down and select our picks from, I’m loading up a three-leg parlay. You can always do a ton of your own research, but the trick is I’ve already done that work for you. Let’s get into the best NBA predictions for Friday.

Friday NBA Parlay Picks

1. Parlay Pick: Pelicans -5 vs Pacers

This is my top NBA point spread pick of the day. The Pelicans return home after a short two-game road trip and host the Indiana Pacers. These two met on Wednesday in Indiana, where the Pacers won 123-114. New Orleans is currently in the sixth spot in the Western Conference standings and doesn’t want to fall into the Play-In position.

I typically don’t like backing a team when they return home from a road trip, but this is an obvious revenge game spot for the Pelicans. In the previous matchup, the Pacers jumped out to a big 40-24 lead in the first quarter but the Pelicans made things interesting late. Over the last three seasons, these teams have split their head-to-heads. I’m expecting the same in 2024, and so are the oddsmakers.

Indiana’s defense is non-existent near the rim. The Pacers allow the most points in the paint per game (59.9) and the most free throw attempts per game. The combo of Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson will dominate tonight. New Orleans is the third-best team ATS after a loss (15-8-1), and Indiana is just 8-11-2 ATS against Western Conference opponents this season. The Pelicans will fly high tonight.

2. Parlay Pick: Pistons C Jalen Duren Double-Double – Yes (-122)

This NBA bet has been a money machine this season. Jalen Duren has delivered for me time and time again this season, and oddsmakers haven’t caught on. The second-year center for the Pistons is quietly enjoying a breakout season. He has a double-double in 31 of 42 starts – that’s a 73.8% hit rate. After a two-game road trip, Duren and the Pistons return home on Friday night and host the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is a top pick for NBA player props.

The Cavs are a poor matchup as they are one of the best defenses in the league, but in the two matchups this season, Duren finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and 10 points and nine rebounds. Isaiah Stewart will likely continue to take opportunities from Duren, but I have zero doubts that Monty Williams trusts his second-year big man from Memphis.

Duren is recording a double-double at the sixth-highest rate in the NBA. He is among the stars of the league right now in double-doubles, trailing only Domantas Sabonis, Nikola Jokic, Anthony Davis, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Tyrese Haliburton.

3. Parlay Pick: 76ers SG Buddy Hield 18+ Points Alternate Line (+1400)

I’m already backing Buddy Hield to go over his point total of 13½ as one of my best NBA player prop bets for Friday, and I’m laddering him up to 18 points for our parlay. The 76ers host the Hornets tonight, and Hield has had plenty of success against Charlotte in his career. He has scored at least 18 points against the Hornets in 12 of his last 14 games.

Following the trade to Philly, Hield scored 20 or more points in his first four games as a Sixer. Since then, he hasn’t scored more than 14 over his last four, but this is a great spot for him to bounce back. Charlotte is bottom-five at defending catch-and-shoot threes, and is allowing the fifth-most threes per game. I expect Hield and Tyrese Maxey to be dynamic in this soft matchup.
