The top two teams in the Western Conference will clash for the top spot when the Minnesota Timberwolves host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday. Minnesota has won four of its last five games to remain in first place in the West. The Timberwolves are one game ahead of the Thunder, who have won six of their last seven. It should be an exciting game, with NBA spreads favoring the Wolves at home.
Streak Ends for Thunder
Oklahoma City’s six-game win streak came to an end after its typically strong defense couldn’t slow the Philadelphia 76ers.
Though the Thunder kept three teams under 100 points during their win streak and limited opponents to an average of 101.8 points and a 40.4% shooting percentage in that time, Philadelphia managed 127 points on 45.8% shooting.
Oklahoma City failed to stop the Sixers center Joel Embiid, who nearly had a triple-double with 35 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. Tyrese Maxey proved hard to stop as well with 28 points.
Defense Sparking Wolves
Minnesota bounced back from its loss to Sacramento with a defeat over Memphis following another strong performance from its defense.
The Timberwolves have been led by their defense for much of the season, and in their past five games, they have limited teams to 108 points and a 42.5% field-goal percentage. They held the Grizzlies to 97 points on 38.6% shooting.

Minnesota kept Memphis’ two leading scorers, Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr., each under 20 points, with the duo combining to shoot 9 of 30 from the field.
The Wolves are first in the NBA in field goal percentage allowed, and their defense will continue to make them a reliable NBA pick against the Thunder and beyond.
Thunder vs Timberwolves Best Bet
Bettors should be in for a good matchup when the top two teams in the Western Conference square off. With the sportsbook predicting a close game, bettors may want to look at the NBA over/under, which NBA betting lines have set at 228½ points.
The Thunder have one of the top scoring offenses in the NBA, averaging 119.6 points, but they’ll get one of their toughest matchups yet against one of the NBA’s best defenses in Minnesota, which should do a better job at slowing them down.
Though Oklahoma City’s offense is strong, its defense has been almost as good, and it should do a good job at stalling the Wolves enough to keep the two under the total.
NBA Pick: Under 228½ points (-110)
