Despite the Grizzlies stacking up some impressive wins, they’re still a bit understaffed and trying to find their rhythm. So, I’m rolling with the Nets and taking the points. It’s hard to ignore the Grizzlies’ recent success, but I think they’ll struggle to keep it together with their current lineup.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Can the Nets keep this up?” (As a Nets fan, I’ve even had my doubts.) But this team has exceeded expectations so far, especially from beyond the arc. They’re currently ranked sixth in the league, averaging a solid 15.5 three-pointers made per game, with most of the shooting coming from point guard Cam Thomas, shooting guard Cam Johnson, and veteran point guard Dennis Schroder.

Here’s the kicker: the Grizzlies are 29th in the league, surrendering 16 made threes per game. See where I’m going with this?

And let’s not forget Memphis’ injury dilemma. With key players like shooting guards Desmond Bane and Luke Kennard, along with their top on-ball defender, Marcus Smart, sidelined (per Grizzlies vs Nets injuries), the Grizzlies will have to rely heavily on Ja Morant to carry the load. This time, though, he won’t be able to match the Nets’ hot hand from beyond the arc.

I may be backing the Nets to cover, but I’m also putting my money on point guard Ja Morant in an NBA player prop to stack up the assists for the Grizzlies. With Memphis missing key pieces, it’s all on Ja to keep the offense flowing — and he’s been doing just that. If his recent games are any hint, he’s not just putting up points; he’s dishing them out too. Over his last four games, Morant has had over 10 assists per outing, including two with 12+ and one game with 14 assists.

Let’s not forget his Halloween performance against Brooklyn, where he posted 14 points and 11 assists. Not to mention the Nets aren’t so great at containing teams that move the ball well in general, giving up nearly 26 assists per game, which sets the stage for Morant to step up as the playmaker once again.

So while the Nets take this one outright, expect Ja Morant to show everyone that he’s more than a high-flying scorer — he’s the guy running this offense and piling up assists.
