With only a couple of games remaining in the regular season, the playoff picture is almost locked into place. The Denver Nuggets were losers in their last game against the San Antonio Spurs.
The loss puts them in a position to drop into the play-in tournament if they lose out. Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies locked in the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference – even with their last loss at Utah.
Memphis can relax for the remainder of the regular season while the Nuggets need at least one more win to clinch the sixth seed and potentially move up into the fifth.

Grizzlies Still Missing Pieces
Memphis isn’t going to rush any of their injured players back just yet – especially with the postseason nearing. Ja Morant, the point guard and leader on and off the court for the Grizzlies, hasn’t played for a while.
His knee injury will keep him out of this one. Dillon Brooks is also listed as questionable with his own injury. Still, Memphis continues to find ways to win basketball games no matter the absences.
Desmond Bane is averaging 18.3 points, Jaren Jackson is putting up 16.4 and De’Anthony Melton is adding in 10.8. These are just three of the role players that have been wildly productive when their name has been called.
The question is how hard will they exert themselves without much to gain.
One-Man Show for Nuggets
If you were ever wondering how the Denver Nuggets were staying afloat this season, look no further than Nikola Jokic. Jamal Murray hasn’t played all year and Michael Porter Jr. only lasted a couple weeks, yet they are still cruising along.
Jokic is leading the team in quite literally every major statistical category. He is putting up 27.0 points, 13.7 rebounds, 7.9 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.8 blocks a night.
Without him on the roster, we wouldn’t even be mentioning them in the playoff race. In fact, they would likely be a bottom-five team in the league.
This team has won four of six and has generally been trending in the right direction over the last couple months. They are 19-9 over their last 28 games and should be able to keep it going here.

If this game were to be played in the middle of the season, it would seem that Memphis would be the better choice for NBA picks. However, Memphis is locked into the No. 2 seed in the conference and have a lot of players listed as questionable that may just rest for them to enter the playoffs healthy.
As for the Nuggets, they can’t afford to lose another game or else they risk dropping into the play-in tournament. They have an opportunity to take the No. 5 seed from the Utah Jazz as well.
