Pivotal Game for Both Teams
It’s not all that often you see a team battle back from a 3-0 series deficit in the NBA. That is exactly why the Atlanta Hawks desperately need to come out of Friday’s pivotal Game 3 against the Miami Heat with a win.
The Heat won the first two games of this series – each by double digits – and covered in the sportsbook each time. It looks like they are preparing to get the brooms out for this series.
The Hawks still have some fight left in them. Are they worth a play versus the NBA odds or will the Heat cover the NBA game betting spread again?
Heat Have Sharpshooters
The Miami Heat have been excellent from behind the arc in the series. They haven’t dipped below 38 percent shooting as a team. In their most recent outing, Duncan Robinson, arguably their best 3-point shooter, didn’t even score a point.
Robinson played just seven minutes and yet the Heat still knocked in 14 out of 36 shots from distance. Gabe Vincent and Max Strus knocked in three apiece and Jimmy Butler added four. This Miami squad has so many talented shooters on the roster and Atlanta can’t defend everybody at all times.
Hawks Can’t Buy 3-Pointer
Similar to what happened in Game 1, nobody on the Atlanta Hawks could hit a shot from long range in Game 2. Trae Young missed all seven of his deep shots in the series opener and followed it up with a 2-for-10 performance from behind the arc on Tuesday.
Those aren’t exactly numbers that you want your star player to be posting. On top of the overall inefficient shooting, Clint Capela has yet to play a minute in this series following a knee injury he suffered in the play-in tournament.
Capela’s absence leaves a huge hole in the paint defensively. Atlanta needs to be fueled up by its home-court advantage to keep this series in reach.
Heat vs Hawks Head-to-Head
The Heat won three out of the four regular-season matchups with the Hawks and are 5-1 in the last six.

Heat vs Hawks Prediction
Sportsbooks are a little more faith in the Hawks in Game 3 now that they are playing in front of their own fans. Miami is listed as a 1½-point.
It does feel like this game is going to be decided by single digits as Atlanta has to be desperate to keep their season alive.
However, the Heat have defeated them in five of the lst six showdowns. They clearly know how to beat them and the Hawks are banged up, so that’s not helping matters.
It could be safe to assume that the Hawks will win at least one game in this series, but it’s hard to bet against Miami. This will be Atlanta’s best punch but it won’t be enough. Take Miami with your NBA picks.
