Even against the Pistons, the two stars played well despite some injury concerns. Brunson had 31 points with 11 assists, while Towns scored 26 with 13 rebounds. Mikal Bridges even joined the party, scoring 27 points. Despite that, the Knicks could not stop the Pistons’ defense, leading to the loss. But since the Knicks’ up-and-down play goes from game to game, this matchup against the 76ers seems like a matchup they should do well in, covering the spread.

However, all the 76ers’ issues can be traced back to Joel Embiid’s availability. The 76ers have played 38 games this season, and Embiid has appeared in 13. He headlined NBA news by missing the Thunder game, his fourth straight absence, with a foot injury.
Embiid is listed as day-to-day and may be back to face the Knicks, but that doesn’t change predictions. The 76ers are 7-6 with Embiid on the court, including a 111-99 loss to the Knicks on Nov. 12 in Philadelphia. That was Embiid’s season debut.
But when looking to make a bet on the points total, it is important to realize the Knicks’ defense will likely step it up after a loss to the Pistons. Even though he is questionable, Towns still had a big game against the Pistons as he dealt with that thumb injury.
