Lakers Try To End Losing Streak vs Mavericks
Dallas Fighting To Improve Playoff Standing
The Los Angeles Lakers take on the host Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night in a game that has to be labeled as a “must-win” for the visitors’ playoff chances. Los Angeles has dropped two in a row and sits in 10th place in the Western Conference standings, just a half-game ahead of the surging San Antonio Spurs. Dallas comes into this one holding onto fourth place in the West by a game over the Utah Jazz, a standing that would give the Mavericks homecourt advantage in a first-round series. We’ve got a closer look at this game for you as you decide on how you want to bet online on this key contest.
Let’s check the latest news, stats, injury reports, and NBA odds for Lakers vs Mavericks. We’ve plenty of predictions for you to consider.

Lakers Likely Short-Handed Again
The Los Angeles Lakers have been dealing with injuries throughout this season, especially to their two biggest stars, LeBron James and Anthony Davis. There was hope that both could be on the court on Tuesday night against the Mavericks, but instead, both are listed as doubtful for the contest.
“It’s been that type of year,” Lakers head coach Frank Vogel said of the stars’ injuries. “It’s one of those things that’s out of our control. It’s unfortunate. But we have to lock in, and again, like we’ve done all season, we have to shift our identity on the floor with regards to who’s in and who’s out.”
Davis hasn’t played since Feb. 16th due to a right mid-foot sprain but has been working in practice and is hoping to be back soon. James played in Sunday’s loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, finishing with 39 points, nine rebounds, and five assists but suffering an ankle sprain that will likely sideline him against Dallas.
Instead, it will be guard Russell Westbrook leading the charge. Westbrook had 18 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in Sunday’s loss and is averaging 18.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game.
Also playing well of late has been guard Malik Monk, who is averaging 15.5 points this month, including going for 23 points in each of the last two games. Monk has been aggressive getting to the hoop, and he should see his minutes rise if James is unable to go.
Mavericks Try To Hold Onto Top Four Spot
The Dallas Mavericks have gone through some lineup changes as well this season, but they seem to have found a good combination. Dallas has won six of nine and is looking like they could be a contender in the West, especially with the play of guard Luka Doncic.
The 23-year-old All-Star has been brilliant this season, ranking fifth in the league in scoring at 27.9 points and sixth in the NBA in assists per game with 8.5. Throw in a team-best 9.1 rebounds, and it’s obvious why Doncic’s name is among those tossed around for league MVP honors.
But the Mavericks’ postseason chances will rest with the supporting cast around Doncic. Currently, the best of that cast is in the backcourt, with newly-acquired Spencer Dinwiddie finding his groove with Dallas.
Dinwiddie is averaging 17.4 points and 4.1 assists since coming to the Mavericks at the trade deadline. Throw in guard Jalen Brunson, who is contributing 16.2 points and 4.9 assists this season, and you can see why guard play is what will carry the Mavericks.
Los Angeles Lakers vs Dallas Mavericks Head-to-Head
These two teams have split their first two meetings this season, with the road team coming out on top each time. The Los Angeles Lakers won by just three in overtime in December before the Dallas Mavericks pulled out a five-point victory in the rematch earlier this month.
The Mavericks won two of three in 2020-21 to win the season series for the first time in four years. Dallas is looking like the stronger team again heading into this one, which is why the NBA lines favor them by double-digits at home.
