What has made matters worse is that Kyrie Irving will miss a substantial amount of time. He sat out the loss to the Cavaliers (bulging disc), not playing in two of the previous three games, but now he will be sidelined for 1-to-2 weeks. That will make it difficult to back the Mavericks in NBA predictions.
Doncic and Irving are the Mavericks’ starting guards and the team’s backbone. This season, the two have a combined 52.4 points, 12.7 assists and 12.9 rebounds per game. There is no way to recreate this production on the current Mavericks’ roster.

Furthermore, Reaves has been putting up amazing stats, averaging 23.8 points, 10.5 assists, and 6.7 rebounds during that span. Let’s focus mainly on the assists, as much of the Lakers’ offense has always landed on the shoulders of the stars. If Reaves can continue at this level of playmaking, it takes a lot off their shoulders, making the Lakers a much better team.
