Lakers vs Nets Prediction, Odds and Picks Sunday, March 31

The Los Angeles Lakers try to get back on track and move up in the Western Conference standings when they take on the host Brooklyn Nets in a Sunday night contest. Los Angeles had a five-game winning streak snapped on Friday against the Indiana Pacers and is currently ninth in the Western Conference standings, 1½ games behind the eighth-place Sacramento Kings. Los Angeles is hoping to improve its NBA title odds by moving up into better positioning for the upcoming play-in tournament.

Brooklyn still has an outside chance of making it into the Eastern Conference play-in tournament, but trailing the 10th-place Atlanta Hawks by five games with eight to play means the Nets have no room for error. They come into this one on a three-game winning streak. Both teams have been playing well of late, so check out our NBA betting preview of this contest before you do any wagering.

Lakers vs Nets Odds and Spreads

  • Los Angeles is 10-10 ATS when favored by five or more points this season.
  • Brooklyn is 8-15-2 ATS as an underdog of at least five points in 2023-24.
  • The over is 8-3 in the Lakers’ last 11 contests.
  • The Nets are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a Western Conference opponent.
  • The over is 4-2 in the last six games between these teams.
  • Los Angeles is 10-1 straight-up in its last 11 games against a team from the Eastern Conference.
  • The Lakers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games played on a Sunday.
  • The total has gone over in 10 of Brooklyn’s last 14 games.

Lakers vs Nets Over/Under Pick: Over 225½ (-110)

The last time these teams played, the total was 242 points, and we expect more of the same. Although both Anthony Davis (24.7 points, 12.7 rebounds, 2.0 blocks) and LeBron James (25.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, 8.1 assists) are listed as questionable for the game, we expect at least one of them to play, which has been enough for Los Angeles of late.

In their three victories prior to Friday’s loss to the Pacers, the Lakers averaged 138.0 points, and they’ll be looking to bounce back from that setback with a big game. Brooklyn has averaged 123.5 points over its last two games, so both teams should be able to put the ball in the basket plenty on Sunday night, making NBA betting on the over the way to go.

Lakers vs Nets ATS Pick: Lakers -6 (-110)

Los Angeles is starting to put things together as the calendar is about to turn to April. The Lakers would like to try to move into the top eight in the West so they don’t have to win two games to make it into the postseason, and there’s only so much time left in the regular season to make that move. Los Angeles’ supporting cast of Austin Reaves, DeAngelo Russell and Rui Hachimura are all playing welll, making the Lakers a hard team to beat.

Brooklyn is playing with a lot of confidencel. The Nets got 28 points from Cam Thomas and 27 from Dennis Schroder in a win over the Chicago Bulls on Friday, but the Nets will need to play  better against the Lakers. We like Los Angeles to be the better team, so do your sports betting online on the visitors.

Lakers vs Nets Prop Pick: Anthony Davis Over 13½ Rebounds (-124)

Davis ranks third in the NBA in rebounding, averaging 12.7 per game, but he’s been on a tear on the boards. Davis has grabbed at least 15 boards in each of the last five contests, averaging 17.6 per game over that span. Brooklyn’s Nic Claxton (9.9 rebounds per game) will pose a challenge for Davis, who should rise to the occasion with another big game on the boards, making his over bet one of our NBA picks for this contest.
