Lakers Are Back

It’s no secret the Los Angeles Lakers have struggled since the NBA restart to get into a rhythm similar to their dominant regular-season play pre-COVID. They ended up 3-5 in the bubble during the seeding round. Star players LeBron James and Anthony Davis were posting numbers far below their averages. Overall they have looked flat.

They continued their struggles during Game 1 as the Trail Blazers came out strong, taking the Lakers off-guard and taking a huge lead early. It was a physical game with constant fouls and a lot of contact. Los Angeles managed to take the lead by a small margin at a couple of points but finally lost in the dying minutes.

It was a bad omen for Lakers fans. Then everything changed. We finally saw Davis return to his dominating form during Game 2. Davis posted 31 points and 11 rebounds in 29 minutes. He went 13-of-21 from the field and shot 3-of-4 from “3.” It’s the type of play we have grown accustomed to and is a huge relief for this Lakers squad, who after nine games in the bubble finally looked like dominant.

Ironically, LeBron had one of the worst playoff performances of his career with 10 points. It didn’t matter, with players like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (KCP), Kyle Kuzma and Danny Green stepping up, draining “3s” and making clutch defensive plays.

If the Lakers can keep up this level of intensity and consistency throughout the playoffs they will continue to have some of the best odds in the league to win the Western Conference and even the NBA Championship.

Trail Blazers Will Try To Recapture Magic

  • BetUS Free NBA Pick: Los Angeles Lakers
  • Los Angeles Lakers: -7½ (-110) point spread, -300 moneyline
  • Portland Trail Blazers: +7½ (-110), +250 moneyline

With Lillard injured and the Lakers getting their mojo back, consider betting on LA on the point spread. They just beat the Portland, 111-88 with their deepest bench players playing a good portion of the final quarter. Keep in mind LeBron only scored 10 points, meaning this team has a lot more to show. It’s only a matter of time until King James unleashes his typical playoffs fury.

Bonus Free Props Bets

The Lakers are looking to be back to their old selves, leaving the door open for some great prop bets for this game. Take a close look at betting on the Lakers for “first to score 10 points”, “first to score 20 points” and “largest lead of the game” to go over 16 points.

Also consider a double result Lakers-Lakers for this game. Their struggles were bound to end and Thursday their star power and depth was all too obvious. This is a far better team than Portland and the Blazers will be feeling deflating after being trounced.
