Boston will be a much bigger favorite on our Mavericks vs Celtics odds than in last season’s Finals when they host Dallas on Thursday.
The Celtics have won four in a row, including a satisfying 112-105 victory at Eastern Conference-leading Cleveland on Tuesday. The one thing bettors need to watch out for is a letdown after such a big win.
Dallas is still reeling a bit from the blockbuster trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis and Max Christie. Davis is questionable with an abdominal muscle strain, but Christie scored 15 in his debut on Tuesday in the 118-116 loss at Philadelphia.

Leg 1: Boston Celtics ATS -10 (-115)
Boston has won four straight games for the first time since November (seven) and are relatively healthy, although point guard Jrue Holiday is questionable with a shoulder injury. Jayson Tatum is averaging 28 points the last three games and center Kristaps Porzingis 21.8 the past four for the Celtics, who are one of the most balanced teams in the league. Boston won at Dallas 122-107 on Jan. 25 while draining 20 shots from 3-point range. The Mavericks could put up a fight as a big underdog in the NBA odds, especially if Davis makes an appearance, and Boston is just 20-30-1 ATS this season. However, we expect the Celtics to be motivated for a big win.
Jayson Tatum’s footwork is just too good. Hard to defend this. #Celtics pic.twitter.com/lEP4S1Ru04

Leg 2: Mavericks vs Celtics Over 229.5 Points
Tatum and Porzingis have been on their games of late, but so have Jaylen Brown and Derrick White. The Celtics can look several ways for offense. The question you must answer for your over/under bet online is how the game is played. Will it be a playoff-style grind? The under was 5-0 in the NBA Finals. We think the game will be wide open with Kyrie Irving (29 ppg last three) leading the way for the Mavericks and perhaps Klay Thompson will get his game in gear after making just 5-of-21 from the field the last two games. Dallas won’t have Dereck Lively II (ankle), Dwight Powell (hip) and P.J. Washington (personal), but Naj Marshall and Christie are ready to shine. Expect an offensive show.
Jason Kidd said Max Christie was “better than advertised” in his Mavericks’ debut. More to come.

Leg 3: Player Double Prop: Jaylen Brown 25+ Points and Boston Win (+164)
Remember, Jaylen Brown was the NBA Finals MVP. The 6-6 guard has been a model of consistency, averaging 23.1 points per game this season That makes him perhaps the safest NBA player prop bet when the Celtics play. Brown is shooting 58.8 percent from the field the last four games and put up 22 points, eight rebounds and six assists versus Dallas last month. We think Brown will have another big outing. if you feel less aggressive, take 20+ in a win (-182).

Leg 4: Kyrie Irving 4+ Made 3-Pointers (+127)
Kyrie Irving has not had a ton of success returning to Boston, but this is his team now and he is ready to loosen up at the Garden. Irving has attempted 27 from beyond the arc in the last three games, so he’ll have plenty of opportunities. It might be a bit of a stretch for NBA game predictions because he has not made 4+ in the last five contests. But he is due.
