Durant, Doncic Set to Duel in Brooklyn

Nets Rolling at Right Time

The Brooklyn Nets will look to keep their recent resurgence rolling when they play host to Luke Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks at the Barclays Center on Wednesday.

The Nets return home riding a four-game win streak that has seen them average 130.2 points and a points differential of +21.2 to match. Playing in their own backyard might not be in their best interest for the moment, though, with Kyrie Irving – fresh off a 60 point outing in Orlando – still unable to take the floor in his home city.

Here’s our NBA betting previewfor the Nets vs Mavericks, with a look at injuries, stats and market prices.

Let’s check the latest news, stats, injury reports, and NBA odds for Mavericks vs Nets. We’ve plenty of predictions for you to consider.

Brooklyn Set for Bumpy Ride Home

It has been smooth sailing for the Nets since reuniting Kevin Durant and Irving, but those outings will be few and far between in the final month with Irving still unavailable for home games due to his unvaccinated status.

Seth Curry is also listed as questionable, having already missed the team’s last two games against New York and Orlando.

If the Nets are to be without two key offensive contributors, things become tricky against the league’s top-tier teams, and Dallas certainly fits that mold at the moment.

Brooklyn has been an overrated market commodity all season, particularly on their home floor where they are a league-worst 6-25-1 ATS with a terrible -3.8 average margin.

As good as they’ve been recently, the team has still drastically underperformed against top teams. Looking at their record when playing teams who are top-10 in defensive rating over the past two months the Nets are a dismal 0-8 straight up and 1-7 ATS.

This is the first of four upcoming games against such opposition, with two of those coming at home, which means the Nets will be without the services of their second-leading scorer and playmaker.

Mavericks Pushing for Home-Court Advantage

The Dallas Mavericks are in a real fight to try to secure a top-four seeding out West.

The team is 8-2 in its last 10 games, making them the hottest team in the league since the All-Star break alongside the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Dallas secured an impressive win against the Boston Celtics to start a difficult three-game East Coast trip in a game that came down to the final possession. A huge Spencer Dinwiddie trey broke the deadlock and secured the win for the road team.

It was the effort of Luka Doncic down the stretch that was most impressive however, with his big-game poise again leading the way in the second half.

“He loves the stage. There’s no stage that’s big enough for him. He understands and wants to win,” said Mavs head coach Jason Kidd after the game.

Dallas has performed well as road favorites, sporting a 10-5 ATS record in these spots while owning a +9.5 average margin, making them one of the best NBA points spread teams in this setup.

Mavericks vs Nets Head-to-Head

The lone meeting this season came back in December, where a James Harden-led Nets stole a 102-99 road win in Dallas.

Brooklyn overcame a 12-point halftime deficit, which included a 27-13 fourth=quarter outing in favor of the road team.

Last season, the Mavs won both meetings, including a 115-98 win in Brooklyn.

Mavericks vs Nets Betting Lines

Mavericks vs Nets Prediction

This is a matchup that strongly favors the road team given the circumstances surrounding the Brooklyn Nets at the minute.

At full health, Brooklyn would make life extremely difficult for what is an elite defense, but with the possibility of two of their three top scorers and guards out of the lineup, the workload might be too much for Durant to have to carry.

The new-look lineup of Doncic, Jalen Brunson and Dinwiddie provides a really intriguing offensive style that involves heavy pick-and-roll action to create driving lanes to the basket. That in turn also provides terrific outside opportunities if and when the defense collapses, and that’s something that will almost certainly come to fruition in this one.

The sport betting world is likely overreacting to Brooklyn’s recent output against lower-level opposition. This should be priced closer to a 3½-point spread for the road team, which gives us strong value on the Mavericks’ moneyline option for those looking to bet online.
