Suns Finding a Groove
Game 1 of the Dallas Mavericks-Phoenix Suns Western Conference semifinal was filled with twists and turns. For the most part, the Phoenix Suns had control of the game up until the fourth quarter.
The Dallas Mavericks outscored Phoenix by 10 points in the final quarter and cut the lead to seven, but that was as close as they got in the end.
Luka Doncic tried his best to carry the Mavericks with 45 points, the Suns were just far too efficient for them to keep pace.
In Game 2, the Suns look to make it four straight wins in the postseason. Meanwhile, Dallas hopes to avoid falling in a 2-0 series hole. What’s the best option for those who bet online as we take a closer look at this NBA game betting preview?
Mavericks Need More Than Doncic
Doncic is clearly one of the best players that the league has to offer. The only problem is that he isn’t going to be winning this series on his own.
He dropped 45 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor along with 12 rebounds and eight assists, but it still weren’t enough to get the job done.
Nobody else on the roster scored more than 20, with Maxi Kleber being the closest at 19. The recipe for success is clear: force the Suns to defend more than just Doncic.
Jalen Brunson is the first player that comes to mind here after multiple 30-point outbursts in this postseason. He was just 6 of16 from the field in the opener with just 13 points.
Suns’ Offense Was Humming
As you could probably expect from an offense that is run by Chris Paul and Devin Booker, the Suns were wildly efficient as a team. They shot 50.5 percent from the field and 39.3 percent from behind the arc in Game 1.
Not to mention the fact that they hit every single free throw they attempted and only turned it over nine times. Every starter for Phoenix scored in double digits, with Cam Johnson pouring in 17 from the bench as well.
This group is just incredibly stacked from top to bottom, and it’s hard to imagine them stumbling at home in Game 2.
Mavericks vs Suns Head-to-Head

Mavericks vs Suns Prediction
The Mavericks have to be worried to some degree after Game 1. Not only were they completely unable to defend anybody that Phoenix was sending out there, but Doncic dropped an efficient 45 points and they still lost by seven.
The Suns are favored by six in the sportsbook and it looks like they are the better option here. Phoenix has yet to lose to Dallas this season and is coming off of a huge win at home.
The Suns probably won’t be as efficient scoring as they were in the opener, but with home-court advantage and better depth than their opponent, they’ll find a way to move ahead 2-0 while covering.
