Mitchell, Maxey Monday’s Top NBA Playoff Player Props

The NBA playoffs are in full swing and have started with a bang! We successfully navigated the Play-In Tournament, securing four consecutive NBA player prop bet wins before the weekend – a testament to our insightful analysis.

Every playoff series got underway over the weekend, and we saw just one outright upset. The Clippers were the lone underdog to win in Game 1, even without Kawhi Leonard. The Cavaliers took care of business over the Orlando Magic, and the Knicks clawed their way to a win over Joel Embiid and the 76ers. The other series that we will witness take the floor on Monday night is the Denver Nuggets against the Los Angeles Lakers. Denver took Game 1 and has begun its playoff path to repeat as NBA champs.

Best NBA Player Props Today

76ers PG Tyrese Maxey Over 2½ Threes Made (-130)

We’re headed to the World’s Most Famous Arena for our first NBA bet tonight. In Game 1, Tyrese Maxey took 26 field goal attempts, which led the Sixers. He shot 3 of 9 from beyond the arc, and oddsmakers haven’t adjusted his line. Maxey was named a finalist for the NBA’s Most Improved Player of the Year, and rightfully so. The ironic thing is that he has always been this good. He has knocked down at least three shots from beyond the arc in eight of his last 10 games against the Knicks dating back to 2021.

Head coach Nick Nurse deployed Kyle Lowry’s services in Game 1, playing him for 39 minutes. This allowed Maxey to play off the ball just a tiny bit more. The Knicks are a top-flight defense, but they were susceptible against shooting guards. They allowed 3.51 made threes per game to opposing shooting guards, the seventh-most in the NBA this season.

The 76ers lost the series’ opening game, but they had New York on the ropes. Fire up Maxey with confidence tonight.

Cavaliers SG Donovan Mitchell Over 26½ Points (-104)

I’m firing up Donovan Mitchell because the oddsmakers disrespect him too much, making this an excellent buy-low spot. He scored 30 points in Game 1, and I expect a similar showing tonight. The Cavs and Mitchell are on a mission to rectify their early exit last postseason. They made a statement in Game 1 against the Magic. Spida Mitchell was back and clearly looked like his old self in the opening game. He has the seventh-highest scoring average in NBA playoff history (27.9 ppg).

The Magic could come out and double Mitchell when he touches the ball, but he can find his teammates for wide-open shots if they do. The Cavs’ complementary players will produce at home again tonight, making it difficult for the Magic to double Mitchell. He has scored over 25 points in four of his previous six meetings with Orlando. He has exceeded this line in three of four home playoff games since joining the Cavs.

Orlando has one of the best defenses, but the Magic allow the fourth-most points per game to opposing point guards. Mitchell went over this line in three consecutive games. I’m counting on Spida Mitchell to show up and lead the Cavaliers to a 2-0 start to the series.

Nuggets SF Michel Porter Jr. Over 2½ Threes Made (-148)

We’re heading to Mile High with our third and final NBA bet tonight. I typically like getting plus-money on 3-point props, but the lines only get sharper during the playoffs. Michael Porter Jr. is the third point of attack for the defending champs. He shot 3 for 7 in the Game 1 victory, and we should expect him to let it fly again from beyond the arc. MPJ has exceeded this line in eight of his previous 10 meetings with the Lakers, including five consecutive playoff matchups.

The Lakers gave up 3.05 threes per game to opposing small forwards, which was tied for the third-most in the NBA this season and the third-most overall. The defense will be focused on slowing down Nikola Jokic, the likely third-time league MVP, and this will leave MPJ with open looks on the wing.

Porter averaged 2.9 made threes per game at home this season. Count on him to knock down at least three shots from beyond the arc tonight.
