NBA Offseason Trade Betting: The Top 5 Players To Be Traded

No. 5 Rudy Gay

Veteran forward Rudy Gay might be 34-years-old, but he still has some gas left in the tank. Gay has averaged double figures in scoring in each of his last three seasons with the San Antonio Spurs and is now in pretty high demand.

Gay averaged 10.8 points per game while shooting 44.6% from the field and 33.6% from distance. He suited up for 67 games and can clearly still contribute to a team looking for size, scoring and veteran leadership. The San Antonio Spurs are undergoing a full-fledged youth movement heading into next season and Gay doesn’t fit into their plans moving forward. I’m hearing Gay being a possible target of both, the Golden State Warriors and LA Clippers among other teams.

No. 4 Julius Randle

It’s not that the seventh overall pick in the 2014 draft is awful, it’s just that Julius Randle will never be great, even after putting up 19.1 points and 9.7 rebounds this past season. Still, Randle figures to be out of the Big Apple in a New York minute with the Knicks looking to move the veteran after signing the 6-8 power forward to a $62 million three-year deal prior to the start of the 2019 campaign. Rumors have Randle potentially going to Utah for veteran point guard Mike Conley and draft considerations. Another rumor has Randle and Dennis Smith Jr. possibly going to Charlotte for point guard Terry Rozier and Malik Monk. The Chances the Knicks move Randle are at least an eight on a 1-10 scale.

No. 3 Gordon Hayward

While it’s not really Gordon Hayward’s fault, the fact of the matter is that the once, former all-star  never quite lived up to expectations in Boston. Hayward was one game into his new, four-year, $127 million deal when he suffered a horrific ankle injury that kept him off court for the entire 2017 campaign.

Now two years later, Hayward looks like a player that just doesn’t fit into Boston’s future plans despite averaging 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. The C’s are set at the swingman and small forward positions with Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. In essence, Boston just doesn’t need Hayward as much as they need some athleticism and length in the frontcourt and his expiring contract is a perfect time to move him.

The Indiana Pacers are the team Hayward has most been linked to. Indiana wants to move Victor Oladipo and Myles Turner and Hayward could be included in any deal for either player. Another trade has Hayward going to Orlando for Aaron Gordon. Right now, I’d say Hayward’s chances of returning to Boston are nearly non-existent.

No. 2 Jrue Holiday

There are so many Jrue Holiday trade rumors surrounding New Orleans Pelicans vetarn point guard Jrue Holiday that I don’t know where to begin. New Orleans will almost certainly move the Holiday prior to next season for two good reasons. First, Holiday really doesn’t fit into the Pelicans youth movement, which is clearly being built around Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson first and foremost.

The good news is that Holiday is clearly still an all-star caliber point guard. This is evidenced by the fact that he averaged a stellar 19.4 points, 6.3 assists, 4.7 rebounds this past season. New Orleans also wants to move Holiday because he has two years remaining on his five-year, $131.8 million contract which features a player option for the 2021-22 campaign.

Rumors have Holiday heading to any number of teams from Golden State to Denver. And, most recently, the Brooklyn Nets, for a combination of Caris Levert, Spencer Dinwiddie and Jarrett Allen, among other players. Gordon’s chances of getting traded look very high, if not, sure-fire,

No. 1 Buddy Hield

Sacramento Kings shooting guard Buddy Hield gets the nod as my top player to be traded for one big reason NBA basketball betting enthusiasts. Hield wants out of Sacramento. And, unlike some of the other players on this list, Heild is making his intentions known.

Heild averaged 19.2 points per game. However he shot just 42.9 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from beyond the arc. Heild watched his playing time get cut this past season. He is reportedly not speaking to head coach Luke Walton. The situation in Sacramento is getting more acrimonious by the day.

Rumors surrounding Hield have the former Oklahoma star possibly going to numerous destinations. Chicago is reportedly interested in moving Zach LaVine and could deal him in a deal for Hield. The Dallas Mavericks could move Tim Hardaway Jr. for Hield while another rumor has Hield possibly going to Boston for Gordon Hayward. Two more rumors have Hield going to Philadelphia for Josh Richardson or Al Horford while another rumors says Hield could land in Brooklyn where any deal would start with getting the blossoming Caris Levert. Make no mistake about it, Hield will be on the move soon. That makes him my top pick for NBA offseason trade betting to be traded.
