NBA Opening Night Betting analysis

It’s been just over two months since the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat in Game 6 to win the 2020 NBA Finals. Preseason action has come and gone, and NBA betting is primed to take over the online sports betting world. Warriors vs Nets

The Golden State Warriors only won 15 games last season, and head into the upcoming campaign without All-Star Klay Thompson yet again. ESPN reports that Thompson tore his right Achilles tendon last month, and will miss his second consecutive full season for Golden State. The Warriors will also be facing the Brooklyn Nets minus Draymond Green, and there’s only so much that Steph Curry can do.

Brooklyn is favored by seven points at home, and we can expect the Nets to win by at least 10 here. Nets’ stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are healthy and ready to wreak havoc on the East and beyond. Brooklyn made an impressive showing in the previous postseason, and that was with Durant and Irving out of action.

The Nets (+235) have the strongest NBA conference odds, and project to win the East under first-year coach Steve Nash. Meanwhile, the Warriors are longshots to represent the West in the Finals, and have mediocre NBA division odds as well. Granted, Golden State plays in the hard-core Pacific Division, but the Atlantic Division is no slouch either.

Clippers vs Lakers

This game showcases what many experts expected to be last season’s Western Conference Finals matchup, but that never happened. The Los Angeles Clippers inexplicably blew a 3-1 lead on the Denver Nuggets in the Semifinals, and were prematurely bounced from The Bubble. Kawhi Leonard didn’t get a playoff crack at LeBron James in his Clips uniform.

These teams are pretty evenly matched, although the Lakers are undefeated in the preseason (two wins came vs the Clippers.). Los Angeles will be defending its most recent championship title for the first time against its cross-town rivals. The Lakers are favored by three points, and they should win by much more than that.

L.A. doubled-down following its championship run, trading Rajon Rondo, but acquiring Dennis Schroder, Marc Gasol, Wesley Matthews, and Montrezl Harrell. Fresh blood coursing through hungry players’ veins, and a fierce squad fighting for a repeat. Harrell gets to show the Clippers exactly what they lost by letting him go in the offseason.

After getting eliminated by the Nuggets last season, Los Angeles replaced head coach Doc Rivers with Ty Lue. The Clippers re-signed Paul George and Marcus Morris, and brought in Serge Ibaka and Luke Kennard, but let Harrell walk. The Clips will still be competitive, but did not keep pace with the Lakers evolution.

A Sweet Home-Cooked Parlay: Nets & Lakers

The two home teams are in great position to kick off the 2020-21 NBA season with victories, both SU and ATS. Both the Nets and Lakers are favored to win their respective conferences, and may very well face off in the NBA Finals. However, unite Brooklyn and L.A. for the time being, in a delicious parlay on opening night. A $40 parlay on these two favorites will win you $105.79 to buy some last-minute Christmas presents.
