NBA Lottery 2024: Pistons, Wizards Among Least in the East

As the NBA playoffs begin, there are plenty of Eastern Conference teams that will be absent when you bet online. Seven teams are already heading to that NBA lottery life instead of the postseason.

There is a reason to be more optimistic about some franchises than others when you look to bet the NBA basketball odds for next season.

Let’s take a look at the East squads that missed the playoffs, and what the future holds.

No. 15 Detroit Pistons

It is hard to imagine a worse start to Monty Williams’ tenure with the Pistons than what unfolded in his first season as Detroit head coach. The good news is the Pistons are among the teams with the best chance to land the No. 1 pick thanks to all that losing.

With Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey, there is some talent on the roster. It just looks like this is going to be a longer rebuild.

No. 14 Washington Wizards

The Wizards have nearly as bad of a record as the Pistons, but not as much talent. Wizards fans are hoping for the No. 1 pick, but there is not much else to be optimistic about.

No. 13 Charlotte Hornets

It’s not all bad with LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller. How long will it take to get the Hornets back into the playoffs?

No. 12 Toronto Raptors

R.J. Barrett will get his first full season in Toronto. The Raptors also have Scottie Barnes to build around. This once proud contender has a long way to go to return to being relevant.

No. 11 Brooklyn Nets

Do the Nets try to trade Mikal Bridges, a player who has garnered interest around the NBA? There aren’t key pieces to build around. Brooklyn is damaged because it does not have any picks in the draft.

No. 10 Atlanta Hawks

This is a pivotal offseason in the ATL as it seems clear that the Trae Young and Dejounte Murray experiment is not working. The challenge is unclear what Young’s trade value is.

This team will look differently when you bet online next season. Murray was the more consistent player for the Hawks. Young has also been playing through injuries that impacted his play.

There is no shortage of young talent on this roster, but the pieces have been unable to fit together. We’re sure to see plenty of Young trade odds at the sportsbook this summer.

No. 9 Chicago Bulls

The Bulls routed the Hawks only to get boat-raced by the Heat. Zach LaVine’s future will continue to be a topic of discussion. Coby White’s play during the Play-In Tournament should provide some hope for Chicago fans.
