NBA Monday Parlay Selections
- Atlanta Hawks +6
- Portland Trail Blazers +10
- Phoenix Suns to win
Los Angeles Lakers (15-6) vs Atlanta Hawks (10-9)
When: Monday, 7:30 pm, ET
Where: State Farm Arena, Atlanta, Ga
Analysis: The Los Angeles Lakers continue their lengthy road trip against the Hawks, and it presents them with a challenge.
Los Angeles suffered consecutive losses to Philadelphia and Detroit, before narrowly beating the Boston Celtics with a late defensive display.
There is a sign that the Lakers are getting tired of being on the road, and Atlanta has a team capable of producing an upset. It scored a 116-100 win over Washington last week, which has since been franked by the Wizards against Brooklyn.
At 10-9, there is a sign of life in Atlanta. The Hawks score more points on average than the Lakers, and although they give up more, seeing the offence shine is a positive.
Leading the way is Trae Young, who averages 27 points per game. He is getting help from Clint Capela, and the duo could test the Lakers on Monday.
Prediction
Bettors get value odds for the Hawks, and we’re predicting an upset. The +190 odds are generous, but we will happily take the points spread.
Getting the Hawks +6 at home is an ideal spot for bettors, as we’re expecting the Lakers to struggle in the second half of the contest.
Pick: Hawks 118, Lakers 112
Portland Trail Blazers (10-8) vs Milwaukee Bucks (11-8)
When: Monday, 8 p.m., ET
Where: Fiserv Forum, Milwaukee, Wi
Analysis: Despite Giannis Antetokounmpo scoring at a high clip last week, the Bucks managed to lose consecutive games. The losses to New Orleans and Charlotte were not good, but returning home could help.
The Bucks are 11-8. However, they are 7-2 at Fiserv Forum, and getting back to familiar territory could see their record improve.
Portland comes off a stunning win over Chicago, which saw Damian Lillard drop 44 points. He also scored six points in 8.9 seconds to secure the win, which could give this team a shot in the arm.
The Trail Blazers are 10-8 but they were treading water. Back-to-back losses over the Thunder and Rockets threatened to derail their season, but an amazing win on Saturday could turn the tide.
A repeat effort won’t be easy against a Bucks team ready to show their best.
Prediction
We expect the Bucks to win this game, but Portland should keep it close. Bettors are getting a double-digit line (+10) and the Trail Blazers are good enough to cover the spread.
They can use the momentum from Saturday to get off to a good start, before holding on to cover the spread for bettors.
Pick: Bucks 110, Trail Blazers 104
Phoenix Suns (10-8) vs Dallas Mavericks (8-12)
When: Monday, 8:30 p.m., ET
Where: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Tx
Analysis: It’s hard to fathom the Dallas Mavericks are 8-12, given what Luka Doncic is doing. However, he is getting no help from his teammates, and the Mavericks are now desperate for a win.
Dallas has dropped its last five games, which started with a loss to Houston and continued on Saturday with a 111-105 loss to Phoenix.
The Mavericks are 2-5 at home, and although Doncic averages 27.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 9.4 assists, they continue to lose.
Phoenix is doing well without Devin Booker. It scored a win over Golden State and Dallas last week, and it will be keen to repeat the dose on Monday.
It was a close game between them in the first outing, but the Suns appear to be in control. Chris Paul is getting any shot he wants, and he’s even better at dishing out assists.
The Phoenix leader is averaging 8.7 assists per game, and his experience is priceless for the Suns.
Prediction
We want to take Dallas, as we expect it to improve any day now, but we can’t. Phoenix is playing better basketball, and it seems to have a clear direction.
Dallas is searching for something that isn’t there this season, and although they will get better, we need to see it first.
Backing Phoenix to win is the safer bet at this stage of the season.
