Nets vs Suns Game Preview, Odds, Live Stream, Picks & Predictions

Whether or not James Harden plays for the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night at the Phoenix Suns, the latest news, stats, and injury reports will still have the visitors as underdogs. The NBA betting odds favor the Suns, who have won 10 straight games. So do we bet on Phoenix straight-up or with the points?

Sun of a Streak

Count it: 10 straight games. The Phoenix Suns are compiling another double-digit winning streak and have lost just once in their last 14 games, becoming the first team to hit the 40-win mark. The Suns owe their success in large part to the health of their main cast.

Phoenix is missing plenty of role players like Jae Crowder and Cameron Payne. But other than Deandre Ayton, their starters have generally stayed healthy. Chris Paul and Devin Booker are due to make the All-Star game while Mikal Bridges remains one of the best “3-and-D” specialists.

However, as good as Phoenix has been, it is just 27-22 against the spread (ATS), including 12-14 at home. Be cautious betting online on Phoenix’s points, especially with online sportsbooks strapping hefty numbers on their spread.

Beaten-Up Nets

The Brooklyn Nets have not had the same fortunes as the Suns. Kevin Durant is out indefinitely with a knee injury while Harden is day-to-day with a hand ailment. Additionally, the likes of LaMarcus Aldridge and Paul Millsap won’t be suiting up, thus thinning the already-lacking frontcourt for Brooklyn.

Still, the Nets have managed to get a good look at their younger players. Nic Claxton has excelled playing center while the likes of Day’Ron Sharpe and Kessler Edwards have stepped up in spots. And there are still enough veterans here, like James Johnson and Patty Mills, in the backcourt.

The injuries may be a boon for Nets bettors. Brooklyn will now be underdogs or have smaller spreads. The team has one of the worst ATS records at 19-29-1 (an abysmal 5-19-1 at home). But on the road, Brooklyn is 14-10 ATS. If the role players can continue stepping up, this record will hold.

Brooklyn Nets vs Phoenix Suns Betting Lines

Brooklyn Nets vs Phoenix Suns Prediction

As a straight-up pick, it’s Phoenix all the way. The Suns are healthier and the combo of Paul and Booker will be too much for the inexperienced Nets. However, Phoenix’s sub-par ATS record at home combined with Brooklyn’s winning road ATS record makes this tricky to bet.

Brooklyn is also 5-3 ATS as a road underdog and is 5-1 ATS in its last six visits to Phoenix. Six points may not seem like much, but the Suns are lacking in depth now thanks to several injuries. The starters will lead this team to victory, but it’s almost a toss-up when they go to their bench, which will also feature some inexperienced players.

Pick: Phoenix Suns -240

So bet the Phoenix Suns straight but at -240, it’s best to parlay this line with another game or with the total: under 230 points. Phoenix’s staunch defense coupled with the lack of firepower from the Brooklyn Nets will yield a low-scoring game.

Pick: Under 230

Parlay: Suns ML-240 and Under 230 (+170)
