Nuggets vs Kings NBA Betting Picks: Tough Spot for Champs in Second Game of Back-to-Back

On Saturday night, the reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets continue their three-game road trip with the second leg of a back-to-back in an arena wildly viewed as one of the best home-court atmospheres.

The Sacramento Kings have emerged as one of the most well-rounded and talented young teams in the league but will have their hands full when welcoming the Nuggets to town, even with Denver battling numerous injuries.

The Nuggets have won four straight heading into this matchup, including a 119-111 road victory over Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns, who were without Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. As for the Kings, they had won back-to-back games against Western Conference foes the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors before falling to the Los Angeles Clippers in their most recent game earlier this week.

Let’s take a closer look at some NBA odds worth considering!

Nuggets vs Kings Head-to-Head

The Nuggets and Kings have met a total of 195 times all-time in regular-season matchups, with Denver holding a slight edge, 101-94. The Nuggets won the most recent meeting in April of 2023, while the Kings got the victory prior to that in a late 2022 matchup. Sacramento’s victory at the end of last year snapped a five-game losing streak in the series against the Nuggets.

Nuggets vs Kings Game Prediction

Of the list of potential NBA bets today, the matchup between the Nuggets and Kings should be a popular one. Denver was without two of its key starters for the matchup with the Suns on Friday night, as Aaron Gordon (heel) and Jamal Murray (ankle) both sat out.

This marked the fourth consecutive game Gordon missed, and Murray’s injury came on Wednesday during his first game back after missing nearly a month with a hamstring strain.

The status of both Gordon and Murray is unknown, but with the quick turnaround time, it’d be a surprise if either one suits up against Sacramento.

The Kings haven’t been bit quite as hard by the injury bug heading into this game, but talented young forward Keegan Murray is questionable due to a back injury. The injuries to Denver’s side have certainly played a part in the spread and evaluation of this matchup, and the Kings have moved from a -2½ point favorite up to -5.

Kings guard De’Aaron Fox has led the way for this team all season, averaging 30.7 points per game while pouring in 40, 29, and 36 points over the past three games. The continued stellar play from Fox, along with forward Domantas Sabonis, will be pivotal in this game, but Malik Monk’s stellar play off the bench has been a difference-maker and could carry weight against a shorthanded Nuggets team.

Predicted Score: Sacramento Kings 117, Denver Nuggets 109

Worth Targeting the Total?

With the Nuggets fresh off a back-to-back and already without Gordon and Murray, I think we see the total fall a bit shy of the 233 that it’s currently set at. While Nikola Jokic and company are more than capable of picking up the scoring without the two starters, the Kings are well-rested and enter this game after having two days off and this matchup marking their third consecutive home game.

NBA Pick: Under 233

Worth Betting ATS?

Between the Kings likely getting some early love from bettors and the concern that Gordon and Murray will miss this matchup, it’s led to this spread moving more in Sacramento’s favor. I don’t expect it to climb much higher than this, as the Nuggets are playing extremely well as of late, even with the injury woes.

Jokic has either posted a triple-double or fallen one or two assists/rebounds shy of one in four of the last five games, and he’ll be the obvious key to the Nuggets extending their win streak to five. While backup point guard Reggie Jackson and forward Justin Holiday have filled in admirably for Denver, I think the Kings pull away late and pick up a strong home victory while improving their record when playing at Golden 1 Center to 6-2 in the process.

NBA Pick: Sacramento Kings -3½

Questions Of The Day

How will the Nuggets' injury-riddled roster impact their performance against the Kings?

The Nuggets have managed to overcome injuries as of late, but with the game against the Kings being the second leg of a back-to-back, it could certainly make a bigger impact than normal.

Will the Kings' young and talented roster step up against the experienced Nuggets?

The Kings have played well against some of the league’s top teams and have specifically done so when on their home floor.
