Of course, reigning MVP Nikola Jokić put up a monster stat line against the Nets with 29 points, 18 rebounds and 16 assists. Even though Jokić averages 31.5 points, the Nuggets are playing at their best when he is a playmaker, as was displayed against Brooklyn.
However, if no one else is making shots on the Nuggets, that forces Jokić to take over the game as a scorer. That was not an issue against the Nets as Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon each had 24 points. All five of the Nuggets starters also scored at least 12 points while Russell Westbrook had his first big game with Denver with 22.
If the Nuggets’ win over the Nets is a hint that they are starting to get into an offensive rhythm, it is hard not to back them in NBA picks. That is especially true when they are the underdogs and have a legitimate chance of winning this game. Jokić will keep putting up big numbers, and it will be up to the rest to support him.

Of these two Western Conference finals contenders, the Timberwolves made the most NBA news in the offseason. The Timberwolves advanced to the West finals last season before losing to the Mavericks in five games. Despite that, they decided to shake up the roster, trading away Karl-Anthony Towns while getting Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo in return.

That deal went through only weeks before the start of the regular season, so this team might take some time to fully get on the same page. Despite that, one player is ready to make a point. Anthony Edwards is averaging 30 points and scored 37 in the loss to the Mavericks, with 24 coming in the first quarter.
