With the LA Clippers down 2-0 in their Western Conference finals matchup against the Phoenix Suns, one pick, above all others, looks like a virtual lock selection for NBA hoops bettors everywhere.
LA is in its third straight 2-0 playoff deficit when they play host the Suns on Thursday night, but if form holds true, then one NBA betting odds side wager could be a literal lock in the BetUS online sportsbook.
Let’s find out where that value lies.

Suns Want to Stick to Script
After winning the series opener 120-114 on Sunday and backing that up with a thrilling 104-103 home win on Tuesday, Phoenix will look to do it again.
The Suns would get a huge boost if future Hall of Fame point guard Chris Paul returns following his COVID-19 protocols absence, but if he doesn’t, Phoenix looks to have a winning formula.
The Suns took a 2-0 series lead on Deandre Ayton’s alley-oop slam with less than a second left. Phoenix was down one with 0.9 left when Jae Crowder floated a high pass on an out-of-bounds play on the baseline and a leaping Ayton threw it down over L.A.’s Ivica Zubac for the stunning win.
“The celebration and reaction were a little shaky,” Ayton said. “Because I wasn’t sure what I did. I wasn’t sure if it counted.”
Phoenix Suns Total Trends
Over is 5-1 in Suns’ last 6 road games vs. a team with a home winning percentage of greater than .600.
Over is 11-5-1 in Suns’ last 17 games following a straight-up win.
Over is 25-12-1 in Suns; last 38 overall.
Clippers Right Where They Want to Be?
Los Angeles is in a 2-0 hole after blowing what should have been a series-tying win. Paul George made a layup with 31 seconds left to give the Clippers a 101-100 lead for their first advantage since early in the third quarter. He added a 22-footer on their next offensive possession for a 103-102 lead.
George – an 85% career free throw shooter – scored a team-high 34 points but missed two free throws with 8.2 seconds remaining that could have put the Clippers up by three.
”Obviously, it was an opportunity that was missed,” George said. ”Pat (Beverley) made an unbelievable play that put me in the position to extend the lead. I am always confident at the free-throw line. I have always been very successful in clutch moments at the free-throw line. Tonight, I was just unsuccessful.”
The Clippers were down 0-2 against Dallas but responded with a 118-108 win in Game 3 as a 3-point favorite. LA was in a similar 0-2 hole against top-seeded Utah in the second round but recorded an emphatic 132-106 win as a 4.5-point favorite. Now, the Clips will look to win and cover the spread in their third consecutive playoff game facing a 2-0 deficit.
”It is a hard game to swallow because look at this game, we’ve got this game won,” Beverley said. ”But we have been in the trenches before. We respond well in the trenches and we will respond well. We always do.”
LA Clippers Total Trends
Over is 5-2 in Clippers’ last 7 games playing on 1 day’s rest.
Over is 5-2 in Clippers’ last 7 games vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600
Game 3 Prediction
The Over is 11-3 in the Suns’ last 14 road games and 7-3 in their last 10 road games against a team with a winning home record. The Over is also 5-2 in the Clippers’ last seven games overall.
Until Game 2, LA had scored at least 114 points in five consecutive games while scoring 109 points or more in eight straight games overall. The Clippers have surpassed their Over/Under total in six of their last nine games overall.
In their two playoff games facing an 0-2 deficit, Los Angeles has responded in a big way and I expect more of the same in this affair with LA fighting to avoid a crushing 3-0 hole and keep its championship hopes alive. The Clippers should be incensed they gave away Game 2 and I expect LA to come up big in Game 3.
