The NBA Playoffs: A Breakdown of the First Round

The NBA playoffs, filled with thrilling and unpredictable moments, are in full swing. On Sunday night, the Minnesota Timberwolves completed a sweep of the Phoenix Suns, securing the first playoff series win. Anthony Edwards shined with 40 points and the Timberwolves appear poised to make a deep run.

The Thunder are set to challenge the Pelicans, aiming for a sweep. Best NBA Player Props Today

NBA Player Prop: Celtics C Kristaps Porzingis Over 16½ Points (-114)

Thank goodness the Knicks are having a great season. It has certainly helped me ignore that Kristaps Porzingis is a significant part of the Boston Celtics juggernaut. He finished with 18 points in 34 minutes in Game 1 and shot 4 of 8 from downtown. He went ice cold in Game 2, shooting 1 of 9 from the field, but bounced back nicely in Game 3 with 18 points.

The Celtics are built to eat alive the Heat defense. Miami deploys zone at the highest rate of any team, allowing opponents to live and die by the three against them. Boston led the league in 3-point attempts (42.5) per game, and Miami allowed the third-highest 3-point frequency.

In his first season with Boston, Porzingis averaged an impressive 20.1 points during the regular season. He has consistently performed well against Miami, finishing with 17, 19 and 25 points in three meetings. Going back to his time with Dallas, he has exceeded this number in 10 of his last 13 matchups with the Heat. Ride the Unicorn!

Lakers PF Anthony Davis Over 25½ Points (-122)

You may not want to believe it, but we are witnessing Anthony Davis in his playoff prime. AD has posted ridiculous numbers in this series. He is averaging 42.3 minutes, 62.2% field goal percentage, 15.8 rebounds and 30.5 points vs. Denver! There is zero chance I am looking to fade him tonight. He has scored 32, 32, 33, and 25 points in the four games this series.

The Nuggets were bottom 10 in points in the paint, and free throw attempts allowed during the regular season. Denver allowed the sixth-most points per game to opposing centers, and Davis has made them pay. Nikola Jokic will likely be named the league MVP again, but Davis has looked like the best player in the NBA during this series. I expect him to show up big again tonight with the Lakers‘ backs against the wall.

Nuggets SF Michael Porter Jr. Over 3½ Threes Made (+129)

We’re staying in the Mile High City with our fourth and final NBA bet tonight. I typically like getting plus-money on 3-point props, and the sportsbook has finally adjusted MichaelPorter Jr’s line from 2½. We were all over Porter in Game 2, and he splashed 6 of 10 triples! MPJ is the third point of attack for the defending champs. He shot 3-for-7 in the Game 1 victory, 6-for-10 in Game 2 win, 2 for 6 in Game 3 and hit 4 for 11 in the Game 4 loss. The oddsmakers have adjusted his line with the Nuggets returning home tonight as they look to close out the series with the Lakers. We should expect him to let it fly again from beyond the arc.

MPJ has exceeded this line in four of his last eight playoff matchups with the Lakers and two of three meetings during the regular season. The Lakers have allowed 3.09 threes per game to opposing small forwards, which is the most in the NBA this season. The defense will be focused on slowing down Jokic, leaving MPJ with open looks on the wing. Count on him to continue his hot shooting and knock down at least four shots from beyond the arc tonight – at plus money!

Stay ahead in the game with unbeatable NBA game odds and NBA lines.
