It has not been that long since the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets last played each other. They last met on Nov. 24 and the Rockets got the win 105-86, which will be considered in expert NBA picks.
In the Rockets’ last matchup, they played their final In-Season Tournament game against the Dallas Mavericks, losing 121-115. The Nuggets won their last game, beating the Los Angeles Clippers 113-104, even with three starters in street clothes.
Rockets Trending Upward
The Houston Rockets have only played once since they last faced the Nuggets, which was a big win during the In-Season Tournament. On top of that, in the two games against the Nuggets this season, the Rockets have won both in low-scoring affairs.
Houston’s defense is a big reason it is starting to become an option in NBA best predictions. The Rockets have allowed the second-fewest points per game at 105.5 and have the fourth-best defensive rating (108.5). That played a significant factor in the two wins over the Nuggets early in the season, holding them to 104 and 86 points.
That solid defensive effort allowed the Rockets’ offense, which still needs some work, to figure things out. In the first win on Nov. 12, Houston won 107-104, relying on Fred VanVleet and Alperen Şengün to combine for 49 points. The win on Nov. 24 was more of a complete team effort by the Rockets. Jalen Green led the team in scoring with 25 while VanVleet also had a big night with 17 points and 11 assists. Şengün and Jabari Smith Jr. had 15 rebounds each while combining for 37 points.
All this has made the Rockets an excellent team for NBA betting. Against the spread, they have covered in 10 of 15 games while hitting the under 10 times, mainly due to their defense.
Nuggets Seek Third in Row
Since losing to the Rockets, the Nuggets have played twice, beating the San Antonio Spurs and Clippers. Both were crucial wins for the Nuggets, who had been in a slump before facing the Rockets. Denver had lost four of six games, including the loss to Houston, before beating the Spurs and Clippers.
Reggie Jackson had 35 PTS & 13 AST, including 5 ALLEY-OOPS to DeAndre Jordan during the Nuggets (w/out Jokic, Gordon, Murray) win against the Clippers!

Those two wins, and even the game against the Rockets, could be helping the Nuggets break out of their slump for NBA lines. In the loss to the Rockets, Nikola Jokić dominated by putting up 38 points, 19 rebounds and eight assists. However, the rest of the roster struggled.
To beat the Spurs, Jokić again had a big game, with 39 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists, but he had some support this time. Michael Porter Jr. had 25 points while Reggie Jackson had 20, still starting for an injured Jamal Murray. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope even had a solid game with 16 points and six assists, helping the Nuggets get back on track.
Against the Clippers, Jokić, Murray and Aaron Gordon all missed the game, but the Nuggets still won. NBA odds shifted away from the Nuggets once the news broke that Jokić was sitting on the second of a back-to-back, but Jackson took over by scoring 35 points with 13 assists. DeAndre Jordan even played well in a spot start against his former team, finishing with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
Rockets vs Nuggets Best Bet
It was a surprise to everyone that the Nuggets beat the Clippers without Jokić, especially in the commanding way they did at the end, winning the fourth quarter 36-16. That does lean NBA picks toward the Nuggets, who should have Jokić back along a confident supporting cast, unlike the last time these two teams met.
