Rockets vs Cavaliers Prediction, Picks and NBA Prop Bets for Jan 25: Back Thompson for Double-Double +104

Two of the best teams in the NBA collide on Saturday when the Houston Rockets take on the host Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavaliers may lead the East and be on their home court, but this team is starting to look more like Clark Kents than Supermen. They are 3-3 in their last six, including losing to Houston on Wednesday.

Can the Rockets make NBA news and pull off another upset, or will Cleveland rebound and recover?

Rockets vs Cavaliers Score Prediction

The Cavaliers have the best record in the NBA for good reason, and that’s that they’ve been consistent throughout the campaign. After a loss to Houston in its last game, Cleveland will come out focused and improve to 22-2 at home with a spread-covering victory: Cavaliers 112, Rockets 105.

Rockets vs Cavaliers Best NBA Player Props Today

1. Rockets G Fred VanVleet Over 2½ 3-Pointers Made

Houston guard Fred VanVleet has a great matchup against a Cleveland team that ranks 23rd in opponent 3-point percentage (36.7%). VanVleet took advantage of Cleveland’s soft perimeter defense on Wednesday, going 7-for-12 from downtown. It was the second game in a row he had 5+ long balls, as his 3-point percentage rose to 40% in January. Add VanVleet to your NBA predictions and enjoy the fireworks.

2. Rockets F Amen Thompson to Record a Double-Double

The No. 4 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft had a fantastic game against the Cavaliers on Wednesday, scoring 16 points and matching a career-high with 16 boards. He’s really found his groove and is averaging 16.8 points and 10.8 rebounds in his last 13 starts.

That includes recording a double-double in seven of his last 12. I feel the second-year wing is on the verge of a breakout, and I plan to cash in.

3. Cavaliers C Jarrett Allen 2+ Blocks

I like to look at the less popular stats when making NBA picks on daily props. I noticed that, for whatever reason, the Rockets allow a ton of blocked shots against them at 6.0 per game, ranking 28th in the league. With Evan Mobley on the shelf, Allen is Cleveland’s second-best shot-blocker, and I like his chances to swat a couple on Saturday after three against Houston on Wednesday.

Rockets vs Cavaliers Moneyline Pick

With Mobley sidelined, the Rockets have an edge, especially after winning the first game of this home-and-home series. But the league’s best team isn’t likely to drop two in a row to Houston, especially with payback on the line. The underdog is tempting, sure, but this feels like a bounce-back spot for the top squad. Beating the same team twice in one week is never easy, and this matchup is no exception.

Rockets vs Cavaliers Spread Pick

The Cavaliers are favored by 3½ points at BetUS Sportsbook and are primed to bounce back at home where they have a 21-2 record. I just don’t see this team dropping three games in a row.  Cleveland’s defense and depth will be too much for the young Rockets, who struggle against disciplined teams. With the Cavaliers being 15-8 ATS at home, I’m backing them to cover the spread in a focused, statement win. Cleveland takes this one and gets back on track.

Bet On Cleveland Cavaliers -3½

Rockets vs Cavaliers Over/Under Pick

With two of the top teams in the league squaring off, you may think the over is an obvious pick. But, having a strong offense isn’t enough of a reason for me to wager on an over. What I like to see is a strong return on investment (ROI) when betting that the total exceeds the odds. It helps that both the Cavs and Rockets have a 14.55% over ROI in their last 10 games. Make a bet online on the over.
