The two teams trying to keep pace with the Oklahoma City Thunder match up tonight in Memphis, where the Grizzlies host the Rockets. They’ve already met three times, including a pair of nail-biters earlier this month, and this one is loaded with intrigue. It’s also filled with some great NBA player prop bets, so read on for some advice.
Rockets vs Grizzlies Prediction
It’ll be interesting to see how Memphis responds to a beatdown at Madison Square Garden earlier this week that caused multiple players – including Ja Morant – to silence their social media accounts. Houston, meanwhile, is absolutely rolling with four straight wins, including two over Cleveland and one over Boston.
That makes the Rockets the more “sure thing” for NBA betting, but we think their presence inspires Memphis, which can become the first team in the West to win 20 games at home: Grizzlies 122, Rockets 120.

Rockets vs Grizzlies 3 Best NBA Player Props Today
1. Ja Morant Under 22.5 Points (-108)
If Morant’s break from social media helps him to turn a corner, then this NBA bet might fall flat. The same is true if he does what he’s done in his first three games vs the Rockets this season: 24 points, 27 points and 29 points.
But Morant hasn’t shot the lights out (44.4%) in those games vs Houston, he’s simply been putting up a ton of attempts. And since that 29-point effort vs Houston on Jan. 13, he’s averaged just 15.4 points in a five-game span.
2. Desmond Bane Over 1.5 3-Pointers (-200)
While Morant has had some quiet nights of late, Bane is enjoying a steady stretch. He’s averaging 21.5 points on 55% shooting (45.3% from the arc) since New Year’s Eve and has multiple 3’s in 11 straight.
The Rockets don’t allow a ton of 3-pointers with their solid perimeter defense, but Bane managed to go 6-for-10 from the arc in his last two vs Houston and just needs to keep that multiple 3-pointers streak alive to make this NBA player prop a winner.
3. Fred VanVleet Over 5.5 Assists (-152)
We did this exact same bet a few days ago and good old Fred delivered with six dimes at Atlanta. He’s gone over this number in three straight games and in five of the last eight, a stretch that started with nine assists against Memphis on Jan. 13.

Rockets vs Grizzlies Moneyline Pick
This just has the feel of a game the Grizzlies “need” a little bit more, just to shake off the stink of that 37-point loss to the Knicks on Monday. They’re 19-5 at home with the last loss coming to these Rockets earlier this month. Simply playing the vibes, we like Memphis to survive in a thriller.
Rockets vs Grizzlies Spread Pick
The five points given to Houston in our Rockets vs Grizzlies odds just seem a tad high for a squad that’s just knocked off the best team in the league (twice) and the defending champs (on the road) as part of an impressive four-game winning streak. We’ll at least pick Houston to stay within that figure.
Rockets vs Grizzlies Over/Under Pick
No team in the West hits the over more often than Memphis at 63.8% of the time. Houston comes in at a healthy 53.3%. The teams went over this number in their last meeting.
