The late game on Saturday night in the NBA sees the Los Angeles Lakers welcome the Houston Rockets in the City of Angels. The Lakers, who enter this game as quarterfinalists for the ongoing in-season tournament, are favored at home by 5 points. This is a prop article, but with a 0-7 record on the road, you should avoid a bet online on the underdogs here.
At least Houston has a healthy roster of starters we can pull value from with our props for this matchup. Let’s get into it.
Here’s a look at some NBA betting to consider!
Fred VanVleet Over 29.5 Pts + Reb + Ast
The first of our NBA best bets for December 2 is on Fred VanVleet to go over his scoring total of 15.5 points against the Lakers. VanVleet is well rested after sitting out the second half of a back-to-back on Wednesday. A left thumb sprain was a factor in his day off, but he will return to action tonight, hoping to shake off his injury and continue to average a decent number of points and rebounds while leading the team in dimes.
The only 5-man lineup with 500+ points this season:
— Fred VanVleet
— Dillon Brooks
— Jalen Green
— Alperen Sengun
— Jabari Smith Jr

VanVleet’s ability to facilitate is the selling point for this Saturday night player prop, as the point guard leads the Rockets in assists and ranks fourth in the NBA with an average of 9.2 per game.
For reference, on top of his assists, VanVleet averages 4.1 rebounds and 16.1 points per game. If VanVleet hits his averages, he will cover this player prop with 30 combined points, boards, and assists.
I’m confident that VanVleet can surpass his total and cash our NBA picks due to the Lakers’ below-average defense. LA allows the 21st most assists to opponents and the 18th most points per game in the league. The Lake Show’s defense isn’t terrible but features enough soft spots that VanVleet should get his, and help us get ours.

Lakers Team Total Under 114
While I don’t have a strong opinion about which team is worth a wager on the NBA spread for this game, team props are a different story. Despite being favored against the Rockets, I’m not confident that the Lakers’ offense will shine particularly bright in this spot.
Reason number one is the status of LeBron James. The all-time great is questionable with a left calf contusion, and if we’re honest, this is a perfect game for him to sit out. The Rockets aren’t much a threat to win on the road, and the Lakers can probably handle them without James.
If James sits, I think there is a good chance he’s not the only starter to either get the night off or see a reduced workload. The reason for this is the Lakers have a big matchup against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday and will need all hands on deck to take down Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal.
