Loser of 9-10 Play-In Matchup Done for Season
Teams Stumble into Playoffs
Most teams prefer to find some type of momentum towards the end of their regular season, so that they can hit the playoffs in stride.
However, that doesn’t seem to be the case for both the San Antonio Spurs and the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Spurs lost their last three games to end the regular season. Those who bet online should note that similarly, the Pelicans lost their final two outings.
It will be interesting to see which of these teams can find their rhythm again. Let’s take a closer look at this NBA game betting preview and see which team is the better option versus the NBA odds.
Let’s check the latest NBA picks, stats, injury reports, and NBA odds for Spurs vs Pelicans. We’ve plenty of NBA predictions.
Spurs Lack Consistency
Without a doubt, the San Antonio Spurs’ coaching and franchise history make them a threat to win this game. They have the experience on the sidelines, but they just don’t have the same type of postseason experience personnel-wise.
On top of that, the Spurs haven’t performed at a high level by any stretch. In fact, the Spurs and Pelicans are the only team in the Western Conference playoff teams with a losing record both at home and on the road.
It will be up to the legendary Gregg Popovich to lead them to playoff magic. Lucky for him, Dejounte Murray and Romeo Langford are both anticipated to return after missing the season finale.
San Antonio will certainly be underdogs in the sportsbook.
Pelicans Look Much Different
New Orleans didn’t start the season too well. In fact, the Pelicans were expected to be one of the worst teams in the league after news came out that Zion Williamson’s return was delayed and Lonzo Ball was sent to the Chicago Bulls.
However, they have really turned it around down the stretch after picking up CJ McCollum from the Portland Trail Blazers at the trade deadline.
McCollum already leads the team in points per game at 24.3 and gives opposing defenses a lot more to defend against. It has allowed Brandon Ingram more space to attack mid-range, creating more opportunities for them to score.
Couple these two sharpshooters with Jonas Valanciunas and his 11.4 rebounds per game and you have a complete offensive group. Depth is a major concern, though, and something that could hold them back.
Spurs vs Pelicans Head-to-Head
The Spurs have gotten the better of New Orleans in three out of the four games this season.

Spurs vs Pelicans Prediction
The Pelicans certainly have more talent on their roster than the Spurs. The addition of McCollum forms a deadly trio of offensive talent that keeps on scoring.
The only problem is coaching. Popovich has helped San Antonio take down a lot of inexperienced teams in the past, and it’s a reason why the Spurs have been so successful in these important games.
They are listed as five-point underdogs here and it seems likely that even if they don’t win, they will keep it close enough to cover the spread anyways in this play-in game. Take the Spurs in this one.
Pick: San Antonio Spurs +5½
