The Phoenix Suns were heading on the road for the first time in this playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks. Given that they were already up 2-0, they had a serious opportunity to nearly put this thing to bed with another win.

Most times, a stat like turnovers can tell a story as to went wrong for a specific team. In this case, Phoenix just couldn’t keep the ball for themselves enough.
The Suns ended with a whopping 17 turnovers as all five of the starters ended with a negative plus/minus. Looking at the stat sheet, nobody on Phoenix played poorly enough to stand out from the rest of the pack.
It was simply the turnovers and their lack of momentum on the road that caused their downfall. We haven’t seen this team crumble under adversity in the past, though, so don’t go and expect it to happen to the best-ranked team in the league.
Mavericks Finally Got Some Help
It took way too long but the Mavericks finally saw somebody else besides Luka Doncic lead the team in scoring. Doncic still dropped his usual 26 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists, but Jalen Brunson was the star that showed out on this night.
He dropped 28 points, four boards and five assists. Throughout this series, we have consistently seen the Mavericks crumble when Doncic isn’t out on the floor.
He even dropped 40 plus points in one of those games and they still lost by a huge margin. Brunson has been keeping them going all postseason long. It is increasingly clear that his performance plays a big factor in when this team wins games or not.
