Thunder vs Celtics Prediction, Odds and NBA Picks Wednesday, April 03

Two of the five teams that have already clinched spots in the postseason clash when the Oklahoma City Thunder visit the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night. Boston has won two in a row and has wrapped up the best record in the Eastern Conference standings, putting it in the top spot for NBA Finals odds as well.

Oklahoma City is in a battle for the top spot in the Western Conference standings, currently tied for second in the conference with the Minnesota Timberwolves just a half-game behind the Denver Nuggets. All three will be in the playoffs, but for a young team such as the Thunder, getting homecourt against the other top contenders is a key for hopes at a long playoff run. Thunder vs Celtics Over/Under Pick: Under 231

Despite both teams being very explosive offensively, this number is too high simply because of the chance the Thunder will be playing without All-Star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Gilgeous-Alexander has only played in one of Oklahoma City’s last four games because of a quad injury. He missed Tuesday’s loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Gilgeous-Alexander is among the leaders in the Las Vegas odds for NBA MVP, as he’s third in the league in scoring at 30.3 points per game. Even if Gilgeous-Alexander is able to give it a go, he hasn’t been very effective when he has played lately, scoring fewer than 20 points in two of his last three appearances.

Thunder vs Celtics Moneyline Pick: Celtics -9

Boston doesn’t have any Eastern Conference playoff seeding to play for, as it has already clinched the top spot, though the team wants to have homecourt in the NBA Finals as well. The Celticslead the Nuggets by 6½ games going into this game, so a victory would clinch the league’s best record as well. Boston is also playing at home for the first time since March 20 and looking to improve on its 32-3 record at TD Garden.

Celtics All-Star guard Jaylen Brown is listed as questionable for this game with a hand injury that kept him out of Monday’s win over the Charlotte Hornets. Boston has plenty of depth so not having Brown shouldn’t be a big problem for the team, not as much as losing Gilgeous-Alexander would hamper the Thunder’s hopes. The Celtics would rather Brown get healthy, as he’s one of the biggest reasons for their solid NBA Finals odds.

Thunder vs Celtics Prop Pick: Jayson Tatum Over 7½ Rebounds (-141)

Among the more enticing NBA prop bets today is the over on rebounds for Jayson Tatum. The Celtics’ leading scorer at 27.2 points per game, Tatum has also been a beast on the boards this season, averaging 8.3 per game. He’s been even better of late, totaling 30 over his last three outings. Look for him to get to the glass enough to make the over a winning bet in this one.
