The Oklahoma City Thunder are firm favorites with NBA odds to defeat the San Antonio Spurs at Frost Bank Center on Tuesday night.

They are -9½ favorites on the road, but the San Antonio Spurs aren’t an easy team to blow out of the water, and we believe they’ll put up a fight in front of their home crowd.

3 Tips to Bet on the Thunder vs Spurs Game

1. Betting Confidence for OKC

There are high market expectations for the Thunder, who have started well at 11-3, but come off a 121-119 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

The line of -9½ is high for a team coming off a loss and playing on the road. It’s mostly due to the lack of respect for the Spurs, but we’re unsure if the Thunder are the best team to back in this situation.

Their last five games have come at home, which has the potential to inflate their record. Per Thunder vs Spurs betting tips, Oklahoma City is 4-1 away from home, but playing the first road game after a homestand could spell trouble for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Co.

We believe the Thunder are the better team overall, but with Chet Holmgren and Jaylin Williams out of action, it could start catching up. They rely heavily on Gilgeous-Alexander to score, and he will need to be at his brilliant best to cover the big spread. In NBA player prop picks, his over/under line is set at 29.5.

If San Antonio’s defense can improve a touch, SGA could struggle to score over 30 points, which makes it tough for Oklahoma City to cover the NBA spread. The Thunder won 105-93 against the Spurs in their first meeting, which came at home, so it could be closer this time around.

2. Spurs Hanging Tough

The Spurs come off consecutive losses, but we don’t think they looked awful when losing to the Lakers and Mavericks.

They lost 120-115 to the Lakers, so that was a tidy effort, before losing 110-93 to the Mavericks. It wasn’t their best scoring performance but that followed consecutive wins over the Kings and Wizards.

Despite the market not giving them much chance to win, they have every chance to cover the +9½ spread. It’s a fair number for the 6-8 team, which has a 5-3 record at Frost Bank Center, and that’s a good sign.

Our NBA expert picks have the Spurs hanging tough against a weakened Thunder team, and the key is Victor Wembanyama’s availability. He scored 50 points against the Wizards last week, but sat out the last game vs Dallas and was listed as doubtful for Tuesday’s matchup.

If Wembanyama sits out, it’s a big ask for the Spurs to cover against the Thunder. Check his status before game time.

3. Scoring at a Premium

Our Tuesday NBA predictions feature over 222½ points. We expect plenty of points between the Thunder and Spurs, in what could be a free-flowing Western Conference game.

The Thunder have scored recent totals of 119 and 134 points while the Spurs have scored 139 and 116 points, so there is enough offense available for the over to cash.
