Regular-Season Prep in LA
Both the Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Lakers hope to be playing in the NBA Finals come next June, as both made significant offseason moves to bolster their rosters.
The Wolves added Rudy Gobert, pairing him next to Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards. Gobert has been entrusted with fixing defensive deficiencies that plagued them last season.
The Lakers added ex-T’Wolf Patrick Beverley, as they hope to get a bit tougher,
Let’s check the latest NBA odds, stats, injury reports, and NBA lines for Timberwolves vs Lakers. We’ve plenty of NBA betting for you to consider.
Timberwolves’ next step
The Minnesota Timberwolves NBA Finals odds lowered dramatically, acquiring defensive standout Rudy Gobert (via the Utah Jazz) during the offseason.
Many qualms about how Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert are going to co-exist as a duo, and those concerns may have merit, given how the NBA has gone smaller in recent seasons.
However, both Towns and Gobert are completely different players, covering each other’s weaknesses very well.
Towns is an elite 3-point shooter who can also drive to the rim and dominate in the post, making him arguably as gifted an offensive big man as any in the league.
Gobert, on the other hand, is an elite rim protector, rebounder and defender, using his size and length to make the opposition’s life difficult at scoring inside the paint.
With Anthony Edwards also in the mix, the potential in Minneapolis is sky high this season.
“Beverley Hills”
Patrick Beverley was the butt of all jokes last season, crying and standing on the table after the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Los Angeles Clippers in the play-in tournament game.
He’s no longer with the Wolves, but Beverley hopes to bring his same passion to the Los Angeles Lakers, hoping to get back to the playoffs after an extremely disappointing season. LA was 33-49 a year ago, having missed the postseason by a wide margin.
It will take LeBron James and Anthony Davis being able to stay healthy throughout the regular season, both struggling with injuries last season. James is the ninth choice in the NBA MVP lines (+2000) at BetUS sportsbook.
If you are going to wager on the Lakers to bounce back this season to win it all, now may be the time to bet online. Odds may very well shrink as the season gets underway.
