Trail Blazers vs Grizzlies NBA Picks: Choosing Between 2 of Worst Teams

With all the hype surrounding teams like the Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards, the Portland Trail Blazers don’t get enough credit as one of the worst teams in the NBA. The 16-42 Blazers won their first game since the start of February last night when they beat the Memphis Grizzlies 122-92 and get a second crack at them on Saturday night in Tennessee.

The Grizzlies, with all their injuries and bad luck, showed me without a shadow of a doubt that they are fighting hard to make a late-season run at being one of the worst teams in the league, and can prove that with another loss to the putrid Blazers. Memphis did lose by a staggering 30 points on Friday and is on an 0-4 skid.

The NBA odds list the Grizzlies at -2.5, and while it’s hard to beat a team on back-to-back nights in the NBA, they looked so bad on Friday that a bet online in their favor is a tough ask.

Trail Blazers vs Grizzlies O/U Bet: Over 208.5 (-110)

If you weren’t already sold on how bad these teams were, I refer you to Saturday night’s total, which currently sits at 208.5 points. The teams scored 214 points on Friday. I expect a similarly bad game from the Memphis defense but for its offense to rebound and keep this game competitive.

I can’t bring myself to pick a side on this game with such horrific teams to choose from, so my bet online is for a game that surpasses the total.

Trail Blazers vs Grizzlies Player Prop: Jerami Grant Over 22.5 Points (-106)

Portland forward Jerami Grant did not have a great game on Friday, scoring 10 points in t33 minutes. While that might not breed confidence, I can look past that and at his fantastic stretch of play before that. On Tuesday, he scored 24 against the Heat and notched 20+ points in five of his last seven games. That includes a 49-point explosion a couple of weeks back, although it was a loss to the putrid Pistons.

Questions of the Day

Who will have the edge in the rebounding battle?

The Trail Blazers have a slight edge on the boards, but with so many injuries, it’s hard to trust the full-season stats on Portland.

Which team has more injuries?

This is a tough call, considering both teams are full of injuries. Scoot Henderson, Malcolm Brogdon, Shaedon Sharpe, and Robert Williams III are out for Portland. For Memphis, with nine players on the injury report, it would almost be easier to report on those who aren’t hurt.
