Post-trade deadline, the Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks are two teams that NBA news will follow closely. The Warriors traded for Jimmy Butler, who was supposed to be the biggest name moved at the deadline. Instead, the Mavericks shocked everyone by trading away Luka Doncic and getting Anthony Davis in return.
But one trade has played out better than the other so far. Even though Davis looked terrific in his 31 minutes for the Mavericks, an injury will sideline him for a while. Meanwhile, Butler has already made an impact, opening space for the Warriors’ offense, which is now 2-0 with him on the court.

Going into this matchup, it makes the most sense to go with the Warriors to cover the NBA spread. With Butler on the court, the Warriors are undefeated. He has opened up the offense as a playmaker and driver, allowing Stephen Curry more space.
However, the Mavericks are interesting. In four games since the Doncic deal was finalized, they lost to the Philadelphia 76ers by two, beat the Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets – two of the top teams in the league – and lost on a buzzer-beater in overtime to the Sacramento Kings, per Warriors vs Mavs stats.
The downside is that many of the Mavericks’ key frontcourt players are hurt with Davis and Dereck Lively II out while Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington are game-time decisions.

Leg 2: Over 233 -110

Oddly enough, Buddy Hield might be the player most positively affected by the Warriors’ acquisition of Butler. Heild was sometimes asked to be the second ball handler or scorer for the Warriors this season, but he could not live up to that role.
Now, Butler can take on that role, effectively freeing up Hield to be a spot-up shooter and finding space, which is best for him and NBA player prop picks. Overall, this season has been challenging for him. He averages 11.8 points per game, but in the last four, he has averaged 15.5. A big reason for that has been Butler joining the team.

Leg 4: Kyrie Irving Over 27.5 Points (-114)
When Doncic was traded, it was clear that a lot of guard scoring and creation was passed on to Irving. So far, it’s been a mixed bag. He has only averaged 5.3 assists and had two games under 20 points in the last four.

However, Irving has also had two big offensive games in that stretch, scoring 34 points against the 76ers and 30 in the Mavericks’ loss to the Kings. For our NBA predictions, back Irving having another big-scoring game. Plus, he has recently been named an All-Star replacement for Davis.
