Wednesday’s Best NBA Player Props: Bank on Big Men

Believe it or not, the NBA season is already halfway complete. Every team has played at least half of their regular season games and things are about to heat up. The peak of the NBA season is approaching with the trade deadline and All-Star weekend on the horizon. Rivalry week continues with some terrific matchups scheduled on Wednesday night. You might like NBA against the spread (ATS) picks, but the player prop market also provides plenty of opportunities to take advantage of betting lines.

This week has already been a wild one in the NBA. Joel Embiid dropped 70 points on Monday night to get things rolling. The five favorites won outright on Tuesday, but it wasn’t without drama. The Knicks completed a comeback over the cross-town rival Brooklyn Nets in the TNT doubleheader. The red-hot Los Angeles Clippers capped off the night as Kawhi Leonard posted a triple-double in their win over the Lakers.

Meanwhile, the Nuggets took down the Indiana Pacers. Zion Williamson and the Pelicans soared past the Utah Jazz. The night’s story came when the Thunder squeaked by the Portland Trail Blazers, and the referees had a hand in the win.

We see superstars making an impact every night, but we are also watching new stars blossom, and significant players make their mark off the bench. We are constantly provided with entertainment when the NBA is in action.

Some significant NBA betting trends are developing at the halfway point in the regular season. Some teams have come out of the gates slower than expected, and some have surprised us early. The schedule features a handful of intriguing matchups on Wednesday.

The Milwaukee Bucks will play in their first game after firing their head coach, Adrian Griffin. They will host the Cleveland Cavaliers just hours after hiring Doc Rivers as their new head coach.

The Minnesota Timberwolves will try to get back on track against the Washington Wizards following their loss in Karl-Anthony Towns’ 62-point game. Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs will host the surprising Western Conference-leading Thunder.

The night’s best matchup is in Dallas as the Mavericks are set to battle the Phoenix Suns, who have strung together six consecutive wins. There are plenty of NBA player props to select from, and I’m here with Wednesday’s NBA expert picks.

Best NBA Player Props Today

Pistons C Jalen Duren Over 14.5 Points (-114)

The Pistons host the Charlotte Hornets. Detroit may only have four wins on the year, but they are the bet-on team at home. The line suggests Detroit will come out looking for the win as the Pistons are laying points at the house. Charlotte just traded away Terry Rozier, which tells us the Hornets will have less continuity. The Pistons have covered five straight games, so expect them to produce on Wednesday night.

Jalen Duren is enjoying a breakout season. He has scored at least 15 points in 11 of 17 games since the start of December. Earlier this season, versus Charlotte, he finished the game with 14 points and 17 rebounds, but he was competing for shots. He has averaged double-digit field goal attempts in January. The Hornets have allowed the second-most points to opposing centers, so we can count on Duren to dominate.

NBA Player Prop: Jalen Duren

Timberwolves C Rudy Gobert Over 12.5 Rebounds (-162)

Sticking with the topic of centers in the NBA, let’s focus on one of the best. Minnesota will take on the Washington Wizards. Their head coach was irate with them for their late-game performance in the loss versus the Hornets. The NBA referees also came out postgame and said they missed multiple foul calls that would have likely changed the outcome. With the refs likely on their side and some pride after getting chewed out by their coach publicly, I expect the Wolves to howl tonight.

This is the front end of a back-to-back for Minnesota, so there may be fewer scoring opportunities in the case of a blowout. For that reason, I’m opting for Rudy Gobert’s rebounds. Washington has allowed the most rebounds per game (57.9) and the most per game to opposing centers (18.7). Gobert is among the most prolific defenders over the last decade and is currently second in the NBA in rebounding. I expect him to fly over this number.

NBA Player Prop: Rudy Gobert

Spurs C Victor Wembanyama Over 9.5 Rebounds (-132)

San Antonio will take on the Thunder, who are playing on the second leg of a back-to-back. This should result in some tired legs in the second half and more rebounding opportunities for the rookie phenom. Victor Wembanyama will have to battle with his teammate Zach Collins for rebounds since he returned to the lineup two games ago. The 7-foot-4 rookie averages 10.7 rebounds at home versus 9.3 on the road. The Thunder have allowed the fifth-most rebounds per game to opposing centers and the fourth-most rebounds per game overall. With this game on national TV, I expect Wemby to have a significant impact tonight.

NBA Player Prop: Victor Wembanyama
