Wednesday’s Best NBA Player Props: Wembanyama, Barrett Top Picks

The NBA season continues to heat up as we approach All-Star Weekend. This is always a tricky time of the season to make NBA predictions. Once the break is over, we should have a better feel for the contenders and pretenders.

I’m back breaking down Wednesday’s massive 13-game slate on Valentine’s Day and looking to cash a sweep with my best NBA player prop bets. Before I get into that, here’s what you might have missed after the NBA provided us with another entertaining night on Tuesday.

Tuesday NBA Recap

The Boston Celtics defeated the Brooklyn Nets to improve their NBA-best record. The undermanned Miami Heat upset the Milwaukee Bucks behind a triple-double from Bam Adebayo.

The Thunder took down the Orlando Magic behind another 30-point game from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who continues to improve his NBA MVP odds. Unsurprisingly, the Timberwolves defeated the Trail Blazers, and the Lakers beat the Pistons for the fifth win in six games. The most anticipated matchup of the night came in the desert when the Phoenix Suns defeated the Sacramento Kings. The Suns are starting to surge up the standings in the West.

Wednesday night’s schedule features 13 matchups! This will be the final game for most teams before the All-Star break. There are a handful of notable matchups in the East. The Philadelphia 76ers host the Heat. The Magic take on the Knicks, and the Cavs will try to continue their momentum against the Bulls.

The Celtics will look to grow their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference when they host the Nets on rare city-to-city, back-to-back. Pascal Siakam returns to Toronto for the first time since being traded to Indiana.

Out West, the matchup I’m most looking forward to is the Clippers taking on the red-hot Warriors.

There are plenty of NBA betting lines to sift through for Wednesday’s games, and I’ve done the research, so you don’t have to. Let’s get to the best NBA expert picks for Wednesday.

Best NBA Player Props Today

1. Raptors SG RJ Barrett Over 20 ½ Points (-117)

The storyline in tonight’s Pacers and Raptors matchup is the return of Pascal Siakam against his former team. With all eyes on Siakam, I think this is a sneaky spot to back RJ Barrett. The Pacers allow the most points per game to opposing shooting guards (24.5 ppg). Since being traded to the Raptors, Barrett has exceeded this line in 10 of 18 games.

Where this bet catches my eye is Barrett makes his living attacking the rim. He scores 62.7% of his points in the paint. As you know by now, the Pacers’ interior defense remains nonexistent. Indiana allows the most points in the paint per game (59.8). Barrett has yet to face the Pacers this season, but I expect him to be a focal point for tonight’s Raptors attack.

2. Spurs C Victor Wembanyama Double Double (-143)

The rookie phenom recorded a triple-double in his last game and now has recorded a double double in 28 of 48 games. Over the last month, he has recorded a double-double in 12 of 18 games. He is starting to get a stranglehold on the NBA Rookie of the Year. Wemby and the Spurs take on the Mavericks tonight. He faced Dallas all the way back in October on opening night.

The version of Wembanyama today is much different than the one we saw make his NBA debut. He should have a strong game tonight against Dallas, who lacks the size to slow down Wemby. Dallas is allowing the second-most rebounds per game (54.6). This one is a little juicy, but I’m confident Wemby plays significant minutes and stuffs the stat sheet one more time before the All-Star break.

3. Hawks PG Trae Young Over 24½ Points (-123)

Trae Young was named as an injury replacement for the All-Star team, so he won’t be on a beach for the entire break coming up. I expect him to enter the break on a high note though, against the Hornets. He is averaging 28.9 points per game on the road and has exceeded this line in 13 of 17 road games. He has gone over this number in 7 of his last 10 games overall.

He has scored 23, 25, 25, 31, 28, 9, 30, and 25 points in his most previous eight meetings with Charlotte. The Hornets’ defense has allowed the second-best three-point shooting percentage (39.4%) in the NBA! They also allow their opponents to get to the free throw line a ton, and Young has attempted the fourth-most free throws per game.
