Another week down in the books, and it’s time to start a fresh one, but let’s kick off this one right! Both teams are loaded with young talent and are hungry to make a statement early in the season, so expect some serious action.
Looking for some sharp NBA game predictions today? No worries, I’ve got you covered. Let’s break down this Monday matchup and find out where the real money’s hiding.
2 Expert NBA Parlay Picks for Wizards vs Rockets
1. Rockets (-13½)
The Houston Rockets continue to make strides in the Western Conference. They sit at 6-4 on the year and will now host an injury-plagued, rebuilding Washington Wizards team. And I’m all over this game with the Rockets giving 13 points at home to Washington.
Now, let’s call it what it is: the Wizards have been a disaster this season, sitting at 2-6 with a not-so-pretty 1-2 record on the road. They’re without key players like small forward Kyle Kuzma, shooting guard Malcolm Brogdon, and forward Saddiq Bey being sidelined until January 12th (per updated Wizards vs Rockets injuries). And if that’s not enough, the Wizards’ long-range shooting is practically nonexistent, hitting just 31% from beyond the arc.
On the other side, the Rockets’ defense has been a force, keeping opponents to just 108.9 points per game, good enough for 8th in the league. Add in an offense led by point guard Jalen Green with 21.7 points per game and the double-double machine, center Alperen Sengun, who’s putting up 15.8 points, 11.1 rebounds, and four assists a night, and it’s clear why this game should tilt heavily in Houston’s favor.

All signs point to a comfortable Rockets win at home. The Wizards just don’t have the offensive firepower or defense to keep up. I’m taking the Rockets and laying the points with NBA betting lines.

2. Wizards SG Jordan Poole 3+ Threes (-134)
The Rockets might be set for a lopsided win, but you can never count out Wizards’ shooting guard Jordan Poole to get his points in. And looking at the stats, I’m banking on him to hit three or more 3-pointers in this game.

While Poole’s shooting has been inconsistent, to say the least, he’s shown he can knock down a few from deep every game. In Washington’s recent 121-94 loss to the Orlando Magic, Poole went 3-for-10 from beyond the arc. Sure, his percentages aren’t anything to gloat about, but he continues to find a way to score two to three three-pointers per game, and with Kyle Kuzma, the team’s second-leading scorer at 17 points per game, sidelined, Poole will be leaned on even more to fill the scoring void.
I’m counting on Poole to cash in on at least three 3-pointers from deep as he’ll try to keep the Wizards somewhat in the mix. Take this prop at BetUS Sportsbook:
