The Arizona Cardinals are 4-9 and the Denver Broncos are 3-10. Both have underwhelmed but what makes this game trickier to handicap for those who bet online is that both starting quarterbacks might not play.
Kyler Murray has torn his ACL and is out for the year, while Russell Wilson is in concussion protocol and might not be cleared in time. So, which of these challenged teams is worth a wager on the NFL betting odds?
The season is not over for the Cardinals, but it is over for Kyler Murray who suffered a significant injury on Monday Night Football against the New England Patriots.
Colt McCoy will replace Murray under center, which might not be the worst thing for Arizona. McCoy is a competent backup quarterback and seems to be effective in this offense.
He doesn’t do anything exceptionally well, but he doesn’t make many big mistakes. He’s completing 69.4% of his passes and seems to move the chains.
The challenge is that he’s up against a stout defense that ranks fourth in the NFL in points allowed. Dinking and dunking for five yards here and seven yards there will be a tough living to make this Sunday.
The Cards don’t get any big plays anymore, so while McCoy doesn’t make a ton of mistakes, he also might be producing a lot of three-and-outs.

The Russell Wilson experiment in Denver has been a nightmare. Wilson has played poorly this season and first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett has utterly failed to find solutions for his quarterback.
Now, Wilson might not play against the Cardinals. He suffered a concussion against the Kansas City Chiefs and had to be removed from the game after taking a nasty hit.
Brett Rypien came into the game and finished a drive but couldn’t move the ball otherwise. With the Broncos not going to the playoffs, they don’t have to play Wilson in this game.
They might be well-advised to sit him for the rest of the season and give Rypien meaningful snaps. Either way, don’t expect much offensive production. Under might be the best choice for your NFL picks.
