The Cincinnati Bengals will take on the New York Jets for an AFC matchup in Week 8 at MetLife Stadium. The Bengals (5-2) hold the best record in the AFC after walking into Baltimore and winning 41-17.
Conversely, the Jets (1-5) were crushed by the Patriots in Foxborough 54-13. Early NFL odds have opened with the Bengals as 9½-point chalk, swiftly moving up to the current 10½. The over/under is set at 43.
The Bengals proved they are true contenders after dominating the Ravens in Week 7. Joe Burrow feasted against Baltimore’s secondary, finishing with 416 yards and three scores. In addition, Ja’Marr Chase ripped off an 82-yard score on a catch-and-run slant, finishing with 201 yards.
The Bengal defense pitched a masterful performance in the first half forcing a plethora of three and outs and frustrating Lamar Jackson. The defensive front had a monster showing, recording five sacks, and the defensive unit has allowed just 14 points per game in their last two outings.
The Jets returned from their bye with a pathetic performance on both sides of the ball against the Patriots. The defense looked lifeless, giving up two touchdowns on the first two possessions, including a trick-play score. New York gave up a whopping 53 points and are allowing the fourth-most points per game (29.2) and have the second least takeaways in the league.
Meanwhile, the offense looked like the 31st ranked offense in the league, scoring just 13 points, and will be without quarterback Zach Wilson who went down with a PCL injury. The team has since traded the Eagles for Joe Flacco in the interim.
The New York offense continued their early struggles as the only team in the NFL to not score in the first quarter. To make matters worse, the Jets have been outscored 106-20 in the first half.
