With a 5-4 record, the Cincinnati Bengals must start meeting expectations. This slow start has nearly erased the Bengals from the AFC North race with +375 odds to win the division, behind the Baltimore Ravens at -500. Also, making the playoffs is becoming a tight race. The sportsbook gives Cincinnati -140 odds to make the playoffs. If the Bengals slip against the Pittsburgh Steelers, these odds will dramatically rise.

Coming off of a bye week, Cincy could be returning key players on defense, like defensive tackle D.J. Reader (knee) and cornerback Mike Hilton (finger). Pittsburgh Needs Dominant Pass Rush

Heading into Sunday’s matchup, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defense is rounding into form. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year, edge rusher T.J. Watt, returned to action last week. All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick is also on track to play after missing the last game due to appendix surgery.

Rushing the passer will be the biggest key against the Cincinnati Bengals. Pittsburgh totaled seven sacks and 11 QB hits on Sept. 11 against the Bengals, which limited their passing attack. The Steelers’ pass defense is a major weakness, ranking 28th in allowed yards per pass attempt. With a dominant pass rush, Pittsburgh can come out on top.

In their last two home games, the Steelers are 2-0 ATS with wins over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (20-18) and New Orleans Saints (20-10). Last week, Pittsburgh finally got the run game going with 217 rushing yards on five yards per carry. Rookie running back Jaylen Warren is steadily seeing his workload increase. Two weeks ago, I went against the Bengals, taking the Carolina Panthers to cover. That pick failed miserably as Cincinnati dismantled the Panthers 42-21. The run game was revamped with 200 rushing yards and the offensive line had probably its best game of the season.

Compared to their first meeting with the Steelers on Sept. 11, the Bengals are more balanced and the O-line is much improved. Even without Chase, Cincinnati will have success through the air with quarterback Joe Burrow and wideouts Higgins and Tyler Boyd. The Bengals will grab their first divisional win of the season with a cover as the Steelers’ 30th-ranked pass defense will be picked apart.
