Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys season is off to a wild start. Following Week 1’s 20-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas’ playoff hopes looked bleak, especially with Prescott’s injury. As seven-point dogs, the Cowboys pulled off an upset over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. Now, it looks like Dallas could survive until Prescott’s potential return in Week 4 or 5.
With QB Cooper Rush starting, the defense has to lead the way. Last week, the defensive front dominated the Bengals with six sacks and nine QB hits. Dallas exclusively played Micah Parsons at defensive end. He was unblockable with two sacks as double-teams were consistently thrown his way. According to NFL lines, Parsons is the favorite (+375) to win Defensive Player of the Year.

While the defense played well, Rush deserves a lot of credit. He hit several difficult throws and fueled a game-winning drive. In two career starts, Rush has led the Cowboys to game-winning drives in both games. In addition, the offensive line was solid against the Bengals, which was surprising considering the injuries to left tackle Tyron Smith and left guard Connor McGovern. The O-line struggled against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the season-opener. Rookie tackle Tyler Smith has quickly made his presence known. Dallas still has issues at receiver, but Michael Gallup could be returning this week.
New York Giants
The New York Giants are hunting for their first 3-0 start since the 2009 season. New York is showing the kind of fight Giants fans have been looking for. They rallied from a 13-point deficit in Week 1’s 21-20 win over the Tennessee Titans. In addition, the Giants went on a 13-3 run to defeat the Carolina Panthers 19-16.
New York’s offense has made some improvements. Left tackle Andrew Thomas has been excellent. Running back Saquon Barkley looks like himself again with over 282 scrimmage yards. But several problems linger. Quarterback Daniel Jones has taken a step back and looked downright mediocre through two games. The receiving corps has struggled too. Kenny Golladay has been a non-factor once again; rookie Wan’Dale Robinson has dealt with a knee injury, and New York has rarely played Kadarius Toney.
Improved defense has paved the way for a 2-0 start. Led by cornerback Adoree’ Jackson and safety Xavier McKinney, the secondary looks great. New York leads the NFL in opponent completion percentage (54.84%) and ranks 10th in allowed passing yards per game (197.5). Ryan Tannehill and Baker Mayfield were poor challenges, but Dallas’ Rush won’t be much better.

Cowboys vs Giants Prediction
This is shaping up to be a defensive battle. It’s unlikely either team has great QB play with both defenses playing well. The trenches will decide the outcome of the MNF odds. New York’s offense will struggle if Parsons has another monster game. The Cowboys rarely move the ball if the run game isn’t producing. Ultimately, the Giants’ offensive line and Barkley will win the day.
