Cowboys Can Still Win NFC East
This game comes down to what is motivating the Cowboys in Week 17. After clinching a playoff spot, will they continue to try and fight the Eagles for the top spot in the NFC East, or will they pump the brakes and rest up until the playoffs?
For the Cowboys to win the East at this point, they’ll need to win out and have the Eagles go 0-2 in the final two weeks. Additionally, Dallas needs a loss from both the 49ers and Vikings over the last two weeks to win the top seed in the NFC outright.
Despite their winning ways, the Cowboys have not been a great team to wager on in the second half of the season. In the first nine weeks, Dallas went 6-3 against the spread (ATS). Since then, the Cowboys are 3-3 ATS.
Worth noting: The Cowboys are 1-2 ATS in games in which they are favored by double digits.
On the injury front, Dallas owner Jerry Jones said that running back Tony Pollard looked good to return on Thursday.
Titans’ Playoff Hopes Dwindling
After an embarrassing defeat against the Houston Texans, the Titans are 0-5 in the last five weeks and in danger of missing the playoffs.
The loss was just the cherry on top of what has been an awful autumn for Tennessee. The Titans’ playoff hopes are drying up fast, with losses to the Bengals, Eagles, Jaguars, Chargers and Texans in consecutive weeks.
In an attempt to half the slide, Tennessee is expected to start Joshua Dobbs at quarterback against the Cowboys. Dobbs, signed off the practice squad of the Detroit Lions last week, will replace rookie Malik Willis, who has looked lost in place of the injured Ryan Tannehill.
From a betting perspective, things are not any better. The Titans have a 0-5 record against the spread since their loss to Cincinnati. The drop-off is very noticeable, considering Tennessee went 8-0 ATS in the eight games prior to Cincy.
With that record, a backup QB, and an outright loss to the Texans, the Titans are becoming almost impossible to bet on. Even with a double-digit cushion, as they have on Thursday.

Cowboys vs Titans Picks & Prediction
Predicted Score: Titans 30, Cowboys 21
- Worth Betting on the Moneyline?
No. I don’t expect an outright upset, so there is no value in a losing bet with Tennessee.
- Worth Betting ATS?
Yes, because of the mismatch, the spread is the only way to bet a side in this game and still earn a solid profit. The Cowboys are not a great ATS of late and have a questionable rushing defense. With the Titans and Derrick Henry desperate, it’s not unreasonable to assume that the Titans will keep things close.
- Worth Betting on the Totals?
Yes. With the possibility that the Cowboys may bench some starters or at least play them in a limited capacity, I like the under here. Also, with the Titans a run-first offense, they will chew up a lot of clock when they have the ball.
