The Dallas Cowboys still have a shot to walk away with the top spot in the NFC East as they head to Maryland to take on the Washington Commanders. Dallas’ fate is not entirely in its hands, but a second win over the Commanders this season is a must for the Cowboys to have a shot.
Cowboys vs Commanders Betting Lines
Cowboys Can Still Win NFC East
The Dallas Cowboys are in the same spot they were last weekend regarding their standing in the NFC East. They are in a must-win situation and need the Philadelphia Eagles to lose. Should that happen, the Cowboys would move into a statistical tie at 13-4.
In their previous two “must-win” games, the Cowboys are 2-0 against the spread and straight up after beating the Eagles by six and the Titans by 14. Dallas also has the sixth-best return on investment (ROI) against the spread at 19.09%. In their last three road games, that figure jumped to 27.27%.
On the injury front, LB Leighton Vander Esch and DE DeMarcus Lawrence are questionable, while G Matt Farniok is out. But, overall, the Cowboys are about as healthy as a team can be heading into the 18th week of an NFL season.
The Commanders are a tough team to pin down right now. On the one hand, they present a tough matchup for Dallas with their heavy-hitting ground game. But, on the other hand, the Commanders are 0-4-1 in their last five games, and their best running back missed practice on Wednesday with an injury.
As you might expect, their recent collapse has done nothing for their betting record, which stands at 7-8-1 against the spread. With an ROI of -10.20%, the Commanders have lost their backers -1.80 units this season and -3.40 in their previous five games.
Brian Robinson, their leading rusher, is dealing with a knee injury and will not be 100% for Sunday if he suits up. The team’s second-best rusher, Antonio Gibson, was also a non-participant in practice on Wednesday.
This is terrible news for a team that relies on its rushing attack.
Robinson and Gibson join ten other players who are either questionable or doubtful for Sunday. With the injuries mounting and nothing to play for, Washington may want to avoid pushing these guys back to action.

Cowboys vs Commanders Picks & Prediction
Predicted Score: Cowboys 24, Commanders 14
- Worth Betting on the Moneyline?
No. I don’t see the Commanders pulling off an upset in such an important game against the surging Cowboys. At -320, Dallas doesn’t present enough value for a wager.
- Worth Betting ATS?
Yes. Our best bet for this NFC East showdown is for the Cowboys to win and cover as seven-point favorites on the spread. The Cowboys are on a 3-0 ATS winning streak against Washington, and the Commanders haven’t covered against Dallas since 2020.
- Worth Betting on the Totals?
We are leaning toward a bet on the under for this matchup, expecting the Commanders’ running game to be in a bad state. If their best two weapons on offense are hurt or out, the Commanders will struggle to move the chains and leave this a low-scoring game.
