Giants Look to Seal the Deal
There is not a fan of the New York Giants who wouldn’t have been thrilled to sign up for the team having the fifth-best record in the NFL heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.
Still, there has been some discontent with some of the recent efforts. Facing an Indianapolis Colts team that has lost five games in a row would seem to be a case where the Giants can wrap up a playoff spot in a win. However, it should be noted that the Colts have thrown scares into playoff-bound Eagles and Vikings teams during this losing streak.
The Colts rank in the bottom five of the NFL in yards, points and yards per passing attempt as well as scoring in the second and fourth quarters.
Not having running back Jonathan Taylor has contributed to those numbers as he is on injured reserve with an ankle injury, as is linebacker Shaquille Leonard. Receiver Ashton Dulin, tight end Kylen Granson and cornerback Kenny Moore are all questionable.
The Giants are one of the slowest starting teams in the league, being outscored 4.3-2.6 in the first quarter of games
Linebacker Azeez Ojulari is questionable for the Giants.
Per the NFL playoff odds, the Giants (+10000) have the 14th-best odds to win the Super Bowl, while the Colts have been eliminated from playoff consideration.

Nick Was Hardly Jolly During the Holidays
The move from Matt Ryan to Nick Foles hasn’t exactly provided a boost for the Colts offense.
Foles was 17 of 29 for 143 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions against the Los Angeles Chargers in his 2022 season debut. The last time he faced the Giants, he threw for 237 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-29 win as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.
It seems fair to assume that he will play better than he did against the Chargers. However, will he be able to lead the Colts to victory? It would help if the offensive line steps things up a little after allowing Foles to be sacked seven times last week.
The Las Vegas odds total has gone under in 15 of the Colts’ last 20 games.
On the Rebound
While the 27-24 loss to Minnesota was not the wildest finish among last week’s games, losing on a 61-yard field goal after tying the game with 2:01 left to play has to sting the Giants a little bit.
The good news is that the offense showed signs of life with Daniel Jones passing for 334 yards and Saquon Barkley running for 84, including the game-tying 27-yard touchdown run.
If they can approach those numbers, that should be enough to win against a Colts team limited to a field goal the last time out.
Barkley is 53 yards shy of his career high of 1,307 rushing yards set in 2018. He needs to average 123 yards over the next two games to join Tiki Barber and Joe Morris as the only Giants to run for at least 1,500 yards in a season. He will be facing an Indianapolis defense that ranks 20th in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game.
Four of the last six games played by the Giants have gone over the NFL betting lines total.

The Colts have won the last four games against the Giants and covered three of them.
The last meeting came in 2018, with the Colts scoring with 55 seconds left to erase a 10-point deficit in the second half.

- Worth Betting on the Moneyline?
There isn’t going to be much of a payoff with the Giants priced at –225 to win the game. Only the most adventurous souls will go with the Colts at +185 to win the game.
The Giants figure to bounce back after a tough loss to Minnesota. It won’t hurt that things have gone pretty much like many people expected when former Colts offensive lineman Jeff Saturday was named the interim head coach following the firing of Frank Reich, even though he had never coached above the high school level.
- Worth Betting ATS?
Will the Colts team that was 90 seconds away from stunning Philadelphia or took Minnesota to overtime show up? Or will it be the squad that looked overwhelmed in losses to Dallas and the Los Angeles Chargers?
The Giants have covered in four of its last five games and a six-point line seems like a pretty solid number. The line opened at -3 with heavy action laid on the Giants and that is why the number has moved.
The Giants are 2-2 against the spread and straight up when favored this season. Still, with a chance to secure a spot in the playoffs, the feeling is that the Giants will take care of business as home.

- Worth Betting on the Totals?
Nick Foles going against Daniel Jones is not exactly going to conjure up images of great quarterback duels. It has the second-lowest total (38½ points) of this week’s games. The total originally was at 41 with plenty of money coming in on the under.
The Colts had a pretty solid defensive effort against the Chargers. Can they do it again? This is not going to be a 41-38 type of game, but both teams topping 20 points seems likely so going with the over would be the wise course of action.
